2: Here's a tip for tracing the brick.  Open up the name tables in FCEUXD and find the addresses of one of the bricks, then run a trace while the game draws that brick and then run through the trace until you can find that address being written to.  If you can confirm what's being written is a brick, then you can follow it back from there to find where the data for the brick came from, or whatever.
