Don't even bother with that Pokémon stuff. As for Gene Snitsky's quote

IT
WASN'T
MY
FAULT

What about the Pokémon GFX in SMB1 that PR Translations created. I made the Pokémon GFX in SMB1 that imports into a 41,488 byte ROM.

Can anyone tell me how to change mario's fireballs from red to purple. I know you have to use a hex editor but I have no idea on how to find its pallette.

Oh and the hack is now called "Super Mario: The Dark Dimension".

Cool. I'll wait to see what you do with it...I'm pretty good when it comes to patience

theonyxdragoon: This hack ain't going nowhere. I already mentioned that some of the GFX will be changed and besides the entire first world has been redone. This hack is NOT dead, it will NEVER die and it WILL be better on its final release. I am not giving up on a hack just because you said so. THIS HACK LIVES ON!

Shane, I'm sorry, but there's no way you can call this hack good.... The levels are barely edited, no modifications in powerups, and graphics were only changed on very limited things (as far as i can tell, it was just Mario, the koopas, and the star, but I was too uninterested to play further to figure it out.)

...If this hack is in it's demo state, well...you may want to switch to something else.

I have been trying to learn some basic ASM but its hard to get used to. I suppose I'll get to know more and more in time.

Well, if you think of doing levels harder without changing the levels so much, you could read a little about ASM hacking (like make mario slip longer), but that pretty much work than just using an editor. I wish you luck with your hack

Yeah well I'm going to do it the way I want to do it

How many do you have? When someone has over 20 hacks going at the same time, I doubt even one will be finshed. Instead of trying to get all of them complete, do one, complete hack.

Alright, just to clear something up, I never said you rushed. That was part of a comment to supernova.

Second, eh... Lemme be honest with you. I tried that idea long ago with another game, this is why I said "trust me on that". It didn't work out so well. It was actually received far worse than this has been, so perhaps the general mood here changed, I don't know. But I'd recommend at least a few obvious level changes. Maybe remove a powerup here and there, lengthen a jump a bit, remove a few 1-Ups. All you've done, judging from the screenshot (give us a few more in the future, please), is add enemies. But more can be done even keeping it similar to the original levels.

Just a warning: Most people would prefer seeing completely redone levels, so when this is finished, expect complaints about that. Do what you want to, but it won't always please people.

Ok, I'll say it ONCE more with a little more detail. I DID start it months ago. I was hacking for about 2 years before I joined this board. So I happen to have a lot more hacks other then those. But I am going to release them when they are fully done.

Seriously, shut the fuck up. Just act like you don't know me, and stop harrassing me through PMs. And stop saying shit all the time... Moronic kids like you should know their place. You're 10 or something, I'm 21... Not that age really matters, because I certainly wasn't that stupid when I was 10.
Only a retard would compare the time it takes to make a basic SMB1 hack and a complete SMK hack.

That said, now I'll just ignore you. You're nothing else than a virtual nuisance.

Note to others: That kid is here because I banned him from my board and that Acmlm's Board is in my board ring... So he's kinda there "because of me", heh... Not that I am responsible for any of his shit though, of course.

Now, on topic, Shane, I assumed you started this recently because you released a couple of other hacks lately, and also because people told you you "should" make level hacks now... Still, a little advice: favor quality over quantity.

I didn't rush this hack. I started this hack months ago.
If anyone has played Metroid Prime 2 Echoes then you'll know why the levels are almost the same as the original. In MP2E, the Dark world is like a harder version of the normal world but both worlds look almost the same. Thats what Mario Dark is supposed to be.

So that settles it....

"Speed hacking" is more a curse than a gift; a rushed hack is more likely to be glitchy or have other problems than a non-rushed hack.

Now, as has been said, "dark" and "Mario" don't really go together. Also, the levels look unchanged, save for some new enemies. I'd recommend you slow down, take your time, and put more effort into the levels so they look different. It takes more than a few added enemies and a pallette change to interest anyone, trust me on that. To get anyone to care about a level hack (which this is), you'll need to change the levels considerably. Most of the people that play these hacks have beaten the original game at least once, so they aren't wanting what is basically more of the same. You have a start, but it needs more work.

Hmmm... Maybe you should spend more time on your hacks, it looks like you come up with a new one everyday. Mario's new colors look good... (Blue might be too bright though)
From that one screenshot, it just looks like SMB1 with different colors and more enemies.

And I never thought a dark atmosphere really worked with Mario games, unless you just do it for a few levels only... If you changed the graphics (turning Mario into someone else etc), then a dark theme may be more... "credible" ? But then, the happy Mario music wouldn't work anymore, so it may have to be basically left out or something... *shrugs*

You call that a talent? I call it rushing through a hack and doing it half assed. Why do I say this? The levels look almost exactly the same as there original but with different enemies and a moved block here or there. He should spend more time to actually change the level itself. The dark colors are nice but what the hell is with the Koopa's shells?...
