i Found another version of a super metroid rom and the patches worked. this rom is definately not from the goodset, its a european one but not the same as Super Metroid (E) (!), it has only german and french languages to choose from.

Tested these patches and one was developed in a way that once you progress through the game, you can get stuck somewhere in da screen (Loooks like its an incomplete hack). the 2nd one freezes after the ceres station blows up (does not go to the criteria). and the last one of these 3 patches has huge problem that when your in ceres station, you cant kill the ridley( no matter how many times you shoot him, he stays the same color)and the ridley stays in the same spot does move, only his tail. you also cant load a saved game thats after the ceres station (It will freeze)

Point of me explaining all of that is, that there is no way to me to get those places like in the screen shots for those patches.

Im going to try that header thing for the Super Metroid (JU) [!], to see if the patches work in that rom.

might be the header. Check your rom: if it has a header, remove it. If it doesn't, add one.

Just in case: The header is $200 bytes of useless space on some snes roms. You'll know you have a header if the rom size is shown in Windows as 3,146,240 bytes. If it does have a header, go into a hex editor and remove the first 512 bytes. If it doesn't, add 512 bytes of whatever you want.

The idea works to have rom with the same file name as the ips patch and being in the same folder, but still freezes after the intro.

Did you test this? anyone else

Since Snes9x and Zsnes patch on the fly, don't bother using a utility. Just put the .ips file in the same folder as the rom you want to play. Then change it so the name of the rom file matches the name of the ips file like so:

if the name of the rom is metroid3.smc, then do this

metroid3.smc
metroid3.ips

Then when you load up the game it should auto patch correctly without having to modify your rom file. And as I recall it won't matter if your original rom has a header.

It looks like you got it to work, but There is no Super Metroid (U); that rom doesn't exist if your talking about the lastest snes goodset. only (JU) [!] & (E) [!] roms of super metroid exist.

How how did you patch these 3 patches? what tools you used, please explain your method?

Have you tried patching a different version of the ROM? The (E) version or another dump of the (JU)?

I found 3 patches for super metroid, which can be found here:
http://sukamax.hp.infoseek.co.jp/hackrom.html

When I patch either of those hacks to the game, the game crashes after the intro finishes. I applied it to "Super Metroid (JU) [!]" goodset rom, I used the follwing patching tools but no success: Ouinja v0.59, Snes Tool v1.2, IPSWin v2.0 & Spatch. And of course i'm using ZSNES October 20 2005 WIP emulator.

I just wanna play some hacked version of super metroid, since these are the only 3 patches i can find (i checked these forums all links to some patches for super metroid dont work or its in WIP.

Some plz tell me what I'm doing wrong, or find out how to get these hacks working.
