Acmlm's Board - I2 Archive - Super Mario World hacking - Scrolling Layer 1/2? (Confused)

I dont quite* understand but I can explaine a bit more. The level is entered by going through a door in another level, not directly though the overworld. I haven't had problems with Layer 2 in previous levels, but then again, this is my first Auto-scroll level.
Btw, trying to make an "overworld-less" Mario, akin to Super Mario Bros 1. And yes, if you die, you have to start all over. Kind of mean, but I might find a way to fix it.
Should I mark the previous level's door as a secondary exit? Kindof a newbie to Lunar magic, but most of the stuff I can do (Except this, evidently) |

Is the scrolling in the main level, or is it in a sublevel? Sometimes, layer 2 won't show up for some reason if it's in the main level. Try this: The level you enter from the overworld contains a pipe or door or something which leads to the scrolling Layer 2 level. |

No good. Same results. Layer 2 does not show up at all. It scrolls right, but layer 2 does not appear. Any ideas / Alternatives? |

Okay. Try to change it to None, Constant. Then, open the "Change properties in header" window and disable vertical scrolling. |

Well, it works, as in the Scrolling works, but My layer 2 does not show up when I set Layer 2 scrolling to "none/none" Am I missing something?
(Edit): Forgot to mention - Layer 2 shows up as long as I Dont set H scrolling to none, but will scroll either too slowly, or Layer 1 doesnt scroll. |

I'm not sure what your problem is, but If you go to other propriety and set the Layer 2 Scrolling rate to none so layer 2 will alway follow Mario, now put a auto-scroll sprite and that all
Edit: Smallhacker beat me |

How to make Layer 1 scroll while Layer 2 remains still: Use the Auto Scroll level sprite (number F3). Open the "Change Other Properties" dialog. Change the Layer 2 scrolling rate to None, None. Build your level. Save. Test. |

Hey, first post here. I have a dillema. I am working on a level for mario, similar to one I saw in a finished hack (SMW: Symphony of the Night, I believe) where either: A - Layer 2 scrolls left to right, and mario must continue moving right or be crushed/fall/etc as layer one has tricky jumps etc. ( I dont really know how to describe it) Or B - Layer 1 Scrolls, while layer 2 does not move, effectively creating a "border" on the right and left edges of the screen, so that as layer 1 scrolls, mario could be crushed if he does not jump, or whatever. I cannot for the life of me figure it out . I tried fiddling with the FG scroll, BG Scroll, and Auto-Scroll. I even pasted the level strait from the hack I was inspired by, and when I test the level, it doesnt even work. Works in the hack though. Do I need to use some other patch or edit the game though another program other than Lunar Magic? |
