I'm not much of an artist, but every once in a while I get in the drawing spirit and enjoy myself. If that happens, it's pencils all the way. I hate drawing with pens, because I change things often and then have to start all over.

So, pencils.

I like the pencil art because it really just lets you... well draw things without worrying about different things. I seldom color my Drawings, but when I do, I use colored pencils.

I voted for Digital Art, too, because then Sprite Editing is possible without doing crude drawings.

Pencil, small pixel art things (really small, like weapon icons in FFT and such - the Star Sword in my sig was done by me), and - if you count RPs in this category, which I don't see why you wouldn't - written word. I also play a keyboard periodically... I used to take pride in my ability to learn music by ear... I learned some SMW music this way, as well as Banjo-Kazooie, SMB, and a small part of the Fur Elise. Unfortunately, since my keyboard was in storage for a long time, I've gotten no recent practice, so I can't even remember much of what I used to know.

Pencil and Pixel. Although, i suck at pixel art. And all i ever draw are these little smiley things with swords... I prefer them over stickmen.

Whatever happened to 'Yes' and 'No' answers?
Haha, I'm joking. I voted for the digital paint things. They are really awsome.

Pencil - Nothing fancy here. I like being able to erase my many errors, and I like to draw. I'm not so hot with it, but it's fun.. and sometimes I can come up with neat results. Lately I've been practicing drawing small things, people specifically. Not TOO small or anything, but it's something I'd never focused on before. I enjoy it. It reminds me of pixelling, with size and tiny detail.

Photoshop - Great fun. I've used it for a long time and, although I am no expert or anything, I think I've sharpened my skills.. after so many stupid creations. I love it. I've wondered about careers that focus on Photoshop, but I would probably be no good at whatever they are.

Digital media..with photoshop and stuff most of the time with graphics but lately I just use my graphite pencil or some pen. The graphite pencil is hard to keep sharp sometimes. I had this one that was completely graphite and it fell on the hard floor and broke in 3 pieces and that made me but then I went and bought a regular one.

I should get into my music and really learn my keyboard. Music class next semester. Or I could teach myself. When I tried I would just do it for a few minutes because I felt like I couldn't get it done but I think it might be because I just need to get concentrated.

I used to write a lot but I haven't had a lot of inspiration lately. I need to get back into that too.

I just draw with either pencil or pen. Whatever I have handy.

Good thing you've got multi- enabled...

Picked Word and Music and yea both are broad so I'll specify on both. I don't think it's much of a secret to most of the SF/SB on this forum that I'm practically a veteran on there now; have been for the past couple of years, in terms of writing. Though, anymore, it's been tapering off on this particular forum as of late and I really haven't practiced around here.

I COULD put music in a sense where I can play a few instruments and I definitely don't mind listening to it because my hard drive is basically a media desktop anymore, but I would rather take another angle.

The one that's probably more obvious for those who frequent General Gaming in the DDR thread, you'll probably notice that once a week I get something out called a simfile, which is basically a file that play to a simulator of DDR, otherwise known as StepMania.

Now, I'm guessing that a lot of people are going to ask if I make my own music, no...not quite. But I do make the steps and the graphics and whatever else it entails in whatever music that I'm given for any given project. That includes the basics such as syncing the music in tune with the steps (can't be far off or you have pissy people on your hands about un-synced or poorly synced sims) which delves into getting a correct starting offset and making sure you have the correct BPM of the song at any given time to flow in with the notes. That, in itself, can be a pain if you have something to deal with like Metallica's Call of the Ktulu. Long-ass and very subtly changing BPM song that would take most simfilers I know days to complete without sleep just to get it right which requires constantly checking and rechecking each step put down.

The steps put down, in themselves, have to show some sort of creativity. I mean obviously, if you've played the game Dance Dance Revolution, you know that the steps that show up follow a given pattern or flow. Having the left arrow pressed over and over again doesn't really make for too good of a simfile. This is where expression and creativity take over among a few other things that you have at your disposal, speed doubling, pausing, adding freezes, adding jumps, in an attempt to show what any given part of the song you believe should be danced to and how it should be danced to and at the same time, especially in the higher ups, make it to the point where you're just grinnin' to see if people can pass it and, if so, how well.

So yea, I could probably mull over the other choices, but those are the big ones to me personally.

Photography. Not great (or even very good) at it, but, I can take pictures of some cool looking things I suppose.
Writing. I enjoy writing a lot, and I suppose I'm fairly good at it. Not amazing but, eh.
Music. Despite having no musical education, I play around on the keyboard for hours on end. I kinda teach myself musically, because even though that's my main obsession, no one seems to support it.

Just something out of curiosity...

What do you prefer to use? Multivoting available, for those of you with multiple preferences

(I figure Modern Art doesn't always have to be about showing off art, it can also be a place to discuss art, and art-related matters

Tell us what you like to use when expressing yourself creatively I've tried to add lots of options, but please elaborate if you need to / if the options don't cover it well enough

As for me.... well, I tend to like
* Graphite pencils
* Derwent colored pencils
* Ballpoint pen
* Digital bitmap based media -- in particular Painter and openCanvas
* Photography (digital)
* Music -- I mess around on my Piano from time to time.
