I think the Red Wings have a great team this year, being
10-1. Montreal is at least doing good, seems the new rules make it better for faster teams.

In other news, Brodeur is injured.

in part to a 5 pt effort by Lemieux

In other news, the Sharks currently currently do not have any of the goalies they started the season with due to injury. This is the first time I've seen a team lose two goalies and have to go deep in the depth chart... Does anyone else know any examples? It seems, Atlanta has the same problems too

Hmm...the Rangers are actually winning

Well, we didn't do it.

I'm wondering how long Lindros is going to last at this pace. Certainly not until April...

As of tonight's games, the following teams can be the first ones to reach double digits in points:

Buffalo Sabres
Detroit Red WIngs
Montreal Canadiens
Nashville Predators
Ottawa Senators

Their games:

BUF: @FLA
DET: @PHX
MTL: vs. TOR
NSH: @STL
OTT: vs. BOS

Note: Dallas also has 8 points, but they are idle tonight.

Interesting fact, there have been 5,729 ties in the history of the NHL. Now, that number will never change again...hopefully

There has been one shutout this season correct?

Apparently Daniel Alfredsson had to do it again and in third period aswell...

4-2 For Ottawa wasn't really what I was expecting.. I mean from the start to the end of the second period all was going for the best for Montréal.. But then if it wasn't for Alfredsson and his two goals.. we might have seen something tottally different.

Which they didn't.

I hate the shootout but I love it when it comes to bite Toronto in the ass.

Now hopefully Ottawa used up all their goals tonight.

The Sens are playing the Laughs (Leafs ) right now, so:

Montreal=Rested
Ottawa=Not rested

So, Montreal DOES have a shot.

Montreal and Ottawa are both 3-0, with Buffalo at 3-1. If Toronto beats Ottawa (Tied at 5-5 now), they the three way tie will be retained, point-wise.

Ottawa is gonna lose.

It's not like we can lose our first match at home.

It would be a shame.

Hey, Montreal's 3-0 as well. Fantastic start to the season despite winning all three games by... well... a goal. Yeah.

Still, things are looking bright early on although OTTAWA comes up next tomorrow. Blech. That could end our little streak.

Well my team, the Red Wings, are lookin' pretty tough after improving to 3-0 last night, despite cutting their payroll in half. 2 wins over the Blues and one over the Flames. I know both of those teams have lost some players, but every team pretty much had to make some sacrifices. It'll be a while before I know what to expect out of every team in the league, like I used to.

And this was the first time I've actually looked at all the rule changes that have been made. Man, they're being really hard on those goalies. But scoring seems to have gone up, and that's apparently what people like, I guess. It's also cool how they added the shootout.

Since the NHL lost its contract with ESPN, I think part of the reason they made all these rule changes was to get more fans into the game. I heard that they reduced sizing in the pads and some other new rules because they wanted more scoring, which in turn may make the game more interesting when a team has an easier chance to come back from a couple goal deficit, which also gets more fans into the game and brings in more money. I don't know if this is the reason they made all these changes, well I know I like them.
