Family Guy would not exist if it wasn't for the Simpsons. Family Guy is by no means original. Half the jokes are borrowed from old Simpsons episodes that the kids who watch Family Guy are too young to know.
Simpsons is superior, no doubt.
I hate these threads cause Family Guy always ends up with more votes, even though it's crap. Kids need to know their roots, thats what I say! *shakes cane* |

The "new" Family Guys suck fairly hard, but not as hard as the "new Simpsons. The peak of these series are equaly good. |

It is damn true that the classic simpsons are great but if family guy came out at the same time, I believe family guy would get the ultimate fame. |

The New Simpsons < Family Guy.
The Old Simpsons > Family Guy.
Overall, I just have more fond memories of watching the Simpsons when I was really young, so I'm kind of leaning torwards them. Family Guy will never have that sort of nostalgia with me. |

God, it's like totally out of style to admit the newer Simpsons are still funny. Am I really the only one who thinks they are? I mean, I don't usually watch TV anymore, so I don't catch these shows all the time, but if it's that time on Sunday night, The Simpsons is always good for a few good laughs.
I basically have the first 8 seasons of the Simpsons memorized, and whenever those Dvd sets come out, I buy 'em because they're that good. And then, whenever seasons 9+ come out on Dvd, I'll be anxious to buy them too, because of all the eps I never saw, or at least are unfamiliar with. |

I would definatly go for Family Guy. The Simpsons are good but no where near as good as Family Guy. Family Guy is so much funnier. The Simpsons are getting old now anyway so my vote goes to Family Guy

Family Guy never had a popcorn truck drive into a giant pothole, causing an explosion which popped all the popcorn and filled the hole with it.
Love both shows, but The Simpsons carried me through the 90's. The funniest Simpsons eps own the funniest of Family Guy, and the Simpsons have like 12 additional full seasons to choose from. It really is no contest here. |

I chose Family Guy because, as others have said. the Simpsons are no good nowadays.
I'd probably choose Simpsons if it involved their golden years.. but I haven't seen the older eps in such a long time, so I couldn't say for sure. |

I picked Family Guy because it makes me laugh more, although lately the episodes have been running pretty thin. The jokes are gettin' old. |

Depends how you view it. If you're going recent Simpsons vs. Family Guy, then Family Guy wins that argument easily. If you're going overall Simpsons vs. Family Guy, then you have to give it to The Simpsons because they've had a ton of great episodes and one 3-4 year stretch where virtually every episode was "decent" at worst. |

I love the Simpsons, but the funny moments are too few and far between lately.
I picked Family Guy based on what recent Family Guy episodes are like compared to recent Simpsons episodes (so the standard of each show at the moment). I believe Family Guy wins hands down.

Yeah, it is a classic that started it all. That's why its coolio. But Family Guy is now, The Simpsons just do whatever to make an episode  . It doesn't seem as fresh as before, unlike Family Guy. Don't get it twisted though, Im a fan of both  . |
