People are asking me how to get past the pitching chuck on my level.

It's Simple, jump! It's not hard at all.

I didn't add any coins yet but I will add them.

Those new screenies look good - but like HH said, how are you gonna get through the pitching chuck without taking damage?

And in your 1-3 remake first screenie, the small mushroom base is cut off. It looks flat. Fix it.

And how come theres no coins in any of your screenies?

You know there is a sticky thread that says you should do your hacks yourself! We all ask for help for how something works or if your stuck every now and then but you keep asking people for level layouts and this and that. JUST STOP BRO!!! DO IT YOURSELF!!! IT'S YOUR GAME!!!

Ok, there is a few things I have to change. I am going to change the background on my first level. I might leave out the SMB1 levels too. The first level is easier than it looks. What kind of BG would fit the first level I made?

...dude, the game is about an italian plumber who jumps on top of the heads of sentient turtles and has to battle a dinosaur in order to save a princess the dinosaur keeps kidnapping. The plumber gets energy from mushrooms and rides a green thing named Yoshi, and you're complaining about PHYSICS here?

Seems like a good idea. I had an idea where you could choose from two worlds but had to do both eventually...I never did it in my current hack, though, if I make a "SMCIA 2" I'll put it in there. I like your overworld, particularly the ice cave, that looks cool but still very similar to Vanilla Dome. Also, I do insist you change the forest background for the lava. Otherwise, this looks pretty fun.

Yeah, and the moon floor should be in a cloud setting. >=(

I know where you're coming from, but still. Its not even the physics. The piranha plants are sadly placed. Is this the FIRST level!?

  1. Er... how are you supposed to get through here?
  2. Yay surreality!
  3. Too bright!
  4. Looks difficult, but fun.
  5. Same here.
  6. Nothing special. SMB 1-1 is so overdone...
  7. Nothing special here either.
  8. No background, and messed up scorebar. At least SMB 1-2 is slightly less common.
  9. See above.
  10. Why all the SMB levels?
  11. Seriously...
  12. We've already played them all.
  13. They're boring.
  14. Not bad, though I dunno how Mario's going to get in there.
  15. Ouch!
  16. Still needs a BG.

Yoshi is a dinosaur. You should know that.

The gray in your 2-1 level looks fairly interesting, very nice. The background on your first level does look like a pile o' crap though

The black background is a little bland.

I have more screens of levels. These levels are taken from SMB1.
There is 4 of them: level 1-1, level 1-2, level 1-3 and level 2-1. These levels are not completly finished yet. They will be finished as soon as I learn ExGFX hacking to make them look like SMB1 levels.
Should I make these levels all seperate levels or should I make it one level with all of them being connected by pipes? Please reply, I don't know what to do.

Anyway, here are some screens:

What do you think?
Remember, they're not finished yet. I need to learn ExGFX hacking first them I'll Finish them. I might change the goombas in SMW to the ones in SMB1. Good idea or bad idea?

Also, here is my new background for the first level I did:

Better or worse?

Also, on the overworld I might change the forest map to a cave map instead.

I would love to use ASM hacking but I haven't a clue how to do it. I already looked at other threads here. Hopefully, I figure it out sometime

Anyway, reply and tell me what you think of everything I just wrote. Thanks

If you use really weird stuff like that, I would expect that you explain how this works... Like declaring that world to a "unnatural zone" where everything is different from what it should be like.

Exactly, it doesn't have to make sense. I am nearly finished the next two levels and screens will be posted as soon as they're done(maybe thursday). I've changed the background for the first level. There is about 6 or 7 levels in each world and after I finish one world, a demo will be released and I hope you like it.

The basic idea is okay. But why not spikes instead?

I played this level already and here is what I think. He makes good use of the upside down lava, water and piranha tiles. The level is good to test your basic skills BUT the level layout could be a bit better. It is too basic. But don't let my comments put you off downloading it when it comes out. I'm sure it will be great. TRUST ME!

I have finaly finished the first level of my hack and I have screens of it. Sorry for the late screens but I have been busy. I fixed the glitchy tiles in overworld and am working on changing some of it.
Anyway, here are the screens of the first level

What do you think?
I will post screens after each level I finish.

1. Good, but add some bushes or something.
2. HH is right, it looks too much like the original. Also, you have a lot of glitched tiles in that one, like the blue on the top right, and the rock in the middle. Fix it.
3. Glitched tile, and it looks exactly like the original, except with water on the bottom instead of land.
4. Pretty good
5. I like it. The black suits it nicely - I personally don't think it needs a background.

Not bad, so far.

I will fix the tile in the ice world and I was already planning to change the forest.
I will post screens of the first level when it is done and when I finish a whole world, I'll release a demo.
This is a long thread. Click here to view it.
