Ah... If I wasn't deadset on using only the GFX made by me, I'd grab those in a heartbeat.

Anyone else? I'm pretty much set on releasing it anyhow, but additional opinions would be welcomed. I may wait until my next demo is complete, or at least until it almost is. I'm also planning on releasing all of my ExGFX when my entire hack is done, but some odd sets here and there doesn't hurt.

I could use that in my hack. Maybe for a factory or something in a castle. You should definitely release it.

I still think it looks like chocolate cake, oil isn't JUST black, it's got a certain texture to it that seperates it from chocolate syrup

This is pretty much the final version of the tileset. Everything not pictured such as the cactus has not changed nor do I think it likely to. Please identify any potential problems with the set now, and I'll see what I can do to fix it. Also, I've been considering releasing this tileset just like I released the Winter Village. Would anyone make use of this in their hack? Besides me, of course.

Ahhh, much better

Just a few more questions. Is the oil going to be swim-through, and are the oil falls animated? (A duh question, but asking none the less.)

And is the oil going to be "Slippery".

PS, maybe an insignia on the barrels would add some well placed detail

Hopefully the newer barrels address your concern, Kirby. I thought they looked flat myself, but I wanted someone else to notice it first before I fixed it. Don't fix what ain't broke, ya know? Also, you can see that I editted the cactuses in the same shot, too. It didn't make much sense for everything to be drenched in oil but them, so I added some oil to the top. Finally, I changed the connectors for the oil pipes so they didn't look so flat and uninteresting. The tileset is almost done, so try to identify any other potential problems before I start on designing levels. Questions and comments are always welcome.

First off, wonderful graphics yet again .

The only problem I see is the oil drums need a bit more detail. Right now they look very..... "Flat" and 2d. Dont know how to fix though

The graphics need a fair bit more refining, but I'm confident that they'll look decent in the end, since the first demo didn't have any major problem.

I thought to myself, Awsome, a level made out of cake and chocolate frosting, it perfectly matches the candy theme and is awesome! But then I saw it was oil themed... I suppose it has to do with storyline. Looking good so far, perhaps have some of the oil drums (pipes?) have oil leaking out of the tops.

very nice JJ

I played the first demo, and I must say this hack will be one of the best hacks ever made. Just make the first levels a bit easier
And I loved the new screens

Trust me, all the tilesets make sense. It's likely that this isn't what you meant, but I like to clear things up before they become misconceptions.

Anyhow, work on the tileset progresses smoothly.

Here you can see the oil pumps, and the new textured platforms. They aren't exactly new, seeing as how they're just a modification of platform sides I've already made, but that isn't unexpected. Everything is the same style, after all. Also, the surface of the oil and the falling oil is animated, and I think you will be pleased with the results. I know I am. Work on the background is still being done, but I don't expect it to become much more complicated than it is now. Backgrounds are better when they aren't as detailed, I think.

I think of an oil rig right away with these pics. First a candy cane land, then a casio, and now an oil rig. What's next? A hotel?

Mmm, chocolate-drenched wasteland. That was my first impression, at least . I humbly suggest a bit more shading and some texture in those platforms as well as a few slippery slopes, to capitalize on the oil idea.

By the way, the first demo was great; the top parts of those lollipops certainly surprised me, heh.

Suggestion: More contrast between the FG and BG

Question: What is the red in the BG?

Opinion: It looks really nice so far. Hopefully the oil will be made of animated blocks

This gets the feeling of oil out right away! The only suggestion I have is to make the level slippery, which will make it feel more like oil. You probably took note of that already though...

Awesome!

It would be cool if you made a pushed over oil barrel (the opening pointing towards the "camera") with oil comming out from it which falls down into a deadly hole of oil.

"The never ending o-o-oil!"

If you missed the previous threads, go here and follow the links.

With the first demo released, you probably expected me to take it easy for a while. Oh how wrong you were! I've already started work on the next tileset, which is getting close to completion as we speak. I expect the next world (which is really just a connection point between the candy world and another world) will be done in a couple of weeks or maybe a month, depending on how things go for me. I'll be out of school for the summer soon, so production will probably have picked up by then.

Pointless rambling aside, the actual new tileset. Keep in mind it is still in the early stages, and things are likely to change. I'm looking for helpful comments and insight that will really make this tileset grand. And the quickest one to boot, if I get enough input. I should probably mention it is intended to be a sort of oil drenched waste land.

The background is definitely going to be spruced up quite a bit, and texture will be added to the sides of the platform dealies. Any additional comments are always appreciated.
