Viruses are teh bad. I feel bad for you. If the same thing happened to me, I'd lose only 4-5 months or so of work, but it would still be a crushing blow. Maybe someday you'll be bored and decide to get back into it.

I'm guessing that since viruses can spread into media such as floppy disks, CDs, etc., there were viruses when you backed up your rom. In other words, your brother needs lessons on PC security. I'm very sorry that your rom was corrupted.

I've been working on a classic-style SMW hack, with absolutely nothing that couldn't be found in the original. I had most of it done, and then, all of a sudden, a huge series of problems with viruses (thanks to my immature little brother going on a download rampage on my computer) and just some plain random screwups on my part resulted in a completely destroyed rom. Every single thing you could imagine is now completely wrong, deformed, glitchy, or nonexistant. Since this is the second hack I've worked on only to have destroyed, I have now decided that I will never do a complete hack for SMW. I've spent way too much time to be this disappointed again. Has anyone else had this happen to them? And before anyone calls me completely stupid for not backing up my rom, I did. When I first started. If anyone wants to see what my hack was a year ago before I could design a level and overworld, and way before I knew about the board, when I was a complete nüb, you're welcome to ask me for it. Damn, I'm angry.
