I prefer the old 2d capcom style over the bright 3d lights and everything that a cock-eyed child of 8 with ADD would like.

SNK vs. Capcom is pretty decent. Any fighting game made by Capcom ownz.

i really loved the original battletoads, and the 2 i've played on snes(battlemaniacs and with dd) are excellent! Are there any others?

Chickenlump and Trapster, i'll be sure to grab em.

I forgot to say that I have Battletoads for NES at home. It=s fun but pretty hard.

I have only made it to the 8th level.

Fuck! My keyboard changed to an english one!

Wordy McWord Wordington. The controls are extremely simple, so they do lend themselves to button mashing in certain instances, but they also give you easy access to a nice variety of moves. Though you will see characters with similar weapons, there are enough differences in the move sets to keep things interesting (and of course, there are very unique weapons, like Buster Beetle Cao Ren's buckler blade). The characters' styles and personalities are varied, too, from the historically inspired to the completely fanciful (Zhang He, I'm looking at you).

The strategy element gives you some direction to go in other than just "go kill that dude in the corner eventually". It's convenient to see who is doing battle with who and what the units' morale levels are so you can decide who needs your help most. Also, some levels don't even give you access to the commander immediately, so you have to do well (keep your allies alive, make progress in busting up enemies, etc.) in order to proceed.

I can't believe you didn't mention Battletoads though. That series, and Double Dragon are like the roots of Beat em' Ups. The old TMNT games also rocked, like you said.

Battletoads and Double Dragon in one game even! That game was fun for Snes (there was also a NES version I have yet to try). I play the SPC's from that game occasionally.

I´ve played Battletoads & Double Dragon for NES but that was on an emulator. It was very entertaining so I recommend you to try it, Xeo.

I´ve also played Sonic Blastman 2 for SNES. Pretty fun too.

I just recently discovered that a friend of mine owns an original Gauntlet arcade machine.

Also, I don't care what anyone says...I liked The Bouncer.

Have you tried Legend for SNES? It was alot of fun, had some neat graphics and sounds, and I *think* it's emulated properly nowadays....

The Pirates of Dark Water for SNES was cool too, it was one of the first beat'em up games I remember that had a block button.

my friend robert and i used to play dw3(i forget) all the time(it was in 2002, anyways). it was definitely a game worth buying. he's been bugging me to check out the new ones ever since i moved out of state. thanks guys. i'll be sure to check dw5 out once i get the cash.
one i can play on emulator would be the best reccomendations... i'm a pirating whore.
snes games probably would be the ones i'm most likely to check. my friend and i plan to play a lot of games this month... as soon as my shoulder gets better, anyways.
oh and i also reccomend Golden Axe II to you guys. i used to play it daily on my genesis. it was pretty kickass... wish i could get netplay going with that too...
i think there's an arcade version of it, not sure though. O_o

Try Dynasty Warriors 5. It's by far the most fun one I've played. There are 40something different generals to unlock and power up and umpty bazillion enemies to smashy smashy. We've had the game since it came out a few months ago and everyone but one character is maxed, and I haven't gotten bored with it yet. Even after you get all the best weapons and items and beat the game with everyone, it's fun to replay your favorite levels, try to beat your records (points, time, KO's), and try out new strategies.

^topic.(is that even the right genre name?)
really, i've never seen any mention of games that i've always loved, such as the ff games or later tmnt games(the first one is good but it's not what i mean)... usually arcade games. i've always loved them, but they're not really popular at all. brawl brothers was pretty good too... the xmen arcade game was damn good too... river city ransom.. double dragon.. golden axe.. the list goes on, as i'm sure there's more but i can't think of them right now, haha.
maybe it's because they're better multiplayer, and no one gets a chance to play them like that. i recently played ff3 with my friend over zsnes, and the experience was much better than when i play on my snes(even though i have 3 brothers...). i really loved it, can't wait till we play ff2 together.. as well as finish brawl brothers. xD
my favorite character hands down in the ff series has to be Mike Haggar. he's just so hardcore, and he's the mayor of Metro City for crying out loud!
any suggestions for new games to try out? i'm willing to try new games out, i always love a good smashing.
