Yeah, a fan is one of the easiest (and cheapest) components to replace. I believe CompUSA sells chipset cooling fans and heatsinks for a reasonable price.

You should be able to replace the fan without replacing the entire board.

Hmm... recently the fan on my motherboard (not my processor) starting making grinding sounds (whereas before it was completely silent). I'm worried that I might need to replace it. Any insights on what I should do? Assuming I DO need to replace my mobo, what should I get in it's place?

The motherboard I have currently is an A-Bit NF7s with an onboard nVidia soundcard... I got it two years ago off of new egg.
