I plan to use RAID 0 on two 160 GB Western Digitals when I make my new machine.

I don't have any hardware RAID, so instead I use LVM -- it's optimised towards this software-based stuff more than Software RAID, and it's more tolerant to a sudden re-order of hard disks (which I've taken advantage of a few times ).

I'd love to have a RAID 1 or 10, but that would mean buying at least one more 250GB disk which I can nowhere near afford.

Do you have a RAID Array on one (or more) of your machines at home?

If so, what kind of RAID array do you have?

We have a fileserver that currently has 2 200Gb HDD's in RAID 1, but we will eventually set up a RAID 5 configuration on this machine. (pending more hard drives and another RAID card...)

My housemate also intends to RAID 0 his machine. (pending hard drive)

Is your RAID hardware or software based? Ours is hardware based... I don't trust software based RAID.

Multi voting enabled for those of you with multiple machines with RAID.
