Hmm, I use Lazy Man's MKV for my MKV files but VLC could open it too.
Is it enough with the plugin to be installed on the computer for al programs to use it? |

You NEED to use MPC for FFDShow videos? Hrm, that's odd... I use MP 6.4 for all .ogm's, but I need to use MPC for all .mkv files. I've never tried WMP 9 (or whatever the "Current" version is) on .ogm files though... |

I have but only one and that's those that require FFDShow to run them. In that case I -have- to use MPC to run them. |

You can also use the Gspot Codec Information Appliance to figure out what codecs you need to play Avi files. |

Uh oh. All the files are 0 bytes. This is bad.
I spent 48 hours downloading corrupt files???
Edit: Again, I'll express how much of a dumbass I am. I forgot I had two Season 2 directories, one with a canceled download (the ones that wouldn't play), and one that was completed! I was trying to use the files I canceled.
Thanks, HyperHacker, for the link to the media player. It works like butter. At least I got something good out of my stupidity! |

Hmm... Are you sure they're not corrupt, and are there any zero-byte files in the directory? VLC doesn't really like having empty files mixed in with the one it's playing. |

Sadly, VLC wouldn't play it. Thanks for the link though, it runs Seasons 1 and 3 way better than Windows Media. Now I must continue my search for codecs... |

I've never found an AVI VLC wouldn't play.
If you must use WMP, try just downloading whatever codecs you can find. Can't hurt to have extras. |

I recently aquired Family Guy Season 2 off the Internet, and Windows Media Player will not play the .AVI files.
I do not know what codecs to get because when I right click it and go to properties then summary, it gives me a "Sorry, No Information" thing. When Season 1 and 3 wouldn't, it told me that it was a MPEG-4 codec under information, so thats what I got. I don't know what to do about this! It doesn't even tell me what I need to run it.
Does anyone know how to figure out which codecs needed to play .AVI files when you have little or no information? |
