Make it stretch the entire table, box, thing. Then maybe ill like it. I dont like it because its just sort of there in the window and there is empty space. |

You want my opinion? Stick to one color, and just ever so slightly tweak the hue and value for your borders. You've got the shape of your layout down well, so don't bother changing that, you just need to find the right colors. |

How about you replace the purple with the blue you have on the sides. blue. Try that, just red and blue. It's much better now sans your color choices. |

What about the height? The image itself isn't good for a layout.. it's too big, there's far too much space above and below it. The new shade is good, but try doing something to fix the height. |

That doesn't mean you should rush things. You admitted that you put little effort into it, don't make up excuses.
Not everyone is good at the beginning, but that doesn't mean you can't try. Spend more time on it.
It does not need a fixed height to show all of the picture. You should set it so that as you make longer posts, the viewer sees more and more of the image.
That shade of purple is not working out. It's too bright or something.
I'm more annoyed about your attitude on approaching this layout. I hope you try to fix it up. |
