I'll have to look closely at Ninja Gaiden Trilogy and see if the level format is close to the same...on another note, that game badly needs a facelift, as the graphics are barely improved from the NES games, although it's fairly straightforward as it's all uncompressed.

No, that's how the data works. The level data uses 32x32 blocks. You use 16x16 blocks (which are defined in that offset listing) to make up the 32x32 blocks.

An editor for this game wouldn't be any more difficult than any other NES game. The only problem would be creating a UI that is friendly in regards to the TSA setup in the game.

The data is more complex than that...there is like 2-3 layers of background info...I was thinking of doing an editor fir this game at 1 time but I fried my brain finding data....

I recalled Vagla and Dan posting some Ninja Gaiden 2 data on Zophar's boards a while back; a quick search of their forums yielded their posts with the data.

$04010 - 16x16 block TSA data. 4 bytes per block. Format is top left tile, top right tile, bottom left tile, bottom right tile.
$05C10 - 32x32 block TSA data. 4 bytes per block. Format is top left block, top right block, bottom left block, bottom right block.
$00010 - Level data. Uses 32x32 pixel blocks. 48 dec ($30) bytes per screen. Data is defined from top to bottom, left to right. 6 blocks per column, 8 columns per screen.

Level 1 Attribute Data - 7010
Level 1 Enemy Position? - 9DA5
Level 1 Enemy IDs - 9DC0

Good luck with that data.

All games are editable!

However, I don't know of any editing program for Ninja Gaiden, or in fact any data, so you'd have to find it yourself (Or find someone else willing to find it for you)

Is it possible modifying the levels of Ninja Gaiden series?
If its levels are hackable, it would be interesting.
