BMP files suck. I've been scolded for posting a .bmp image up. .png works very nicely. .gif would work too. You can tell the difference by comparing the first and second you posted.  |

BMP's resolution is pixel perfect (as far as I can tell anyway). GIF's aren't that great tho. With a BMP it stores each individual pixel color making the resolution as good as you can get with your monitor.
If you want some tough "art" try HEX drawing .
I made a BMP image that was 32 by 32 that simply said my name (AJ) and it took me about an hour and a bit. I made it from a blank HEX template. I had another BMP opened up in HEX so I could see the format tho .
Waste of time, and hard to do.
If you still have the original BMP image Dark Vampriel, either upload that, OR download irfanview and convert to a level 9 image of ANY format. This includes JPG's. It will give you lossless quality, but a larger image size. |

bmp might possibly be worse than jpg.  Try png or gif.
Doesn't look bad, better than my first stab at pixeling.. but I don't quite understand the bars. Looks like they were bitten or something.  |

Hmmm.... it's difinately a BMP file I saved it as but it ended up becoming JPG after I loaded on photobucket.
Edit: Just uploaded onto imageshack. Hopefully it's better now.

It actually is a jpg. JPG's dither (that the right word?) the edges because it compresses the image slightly.
I like the bars, but the outside doesn't fit. It would be better if it were stones or something like that. |

I didn't save it as JPG and I knew not to. Seeing as it would end up looking very bad. I know what you were trying to say YD and I know it doesn't look right seeing as I was just messing around with my first attempt at something like this. |

NEVER SAVE PIXEL ART AS A JPG FILE
Not bad for a first try. The bars are odd. Shouldn't the bars look broken in the places where they're cut? The ends of the bars are jaggedy, but the cut parts are smooth.
I worded that bad, I'm sorry. I'm not sure what I'm trying to say.. it just doesn't look right.

Trying my hand at pixel art, which I have no idea if this qualifies as pixel art.  Basically just something random I came up with and in the middle is broken bars like something broke out. |
