Atma X: I can help you learn ASM if you have time for it. If you do sent me an email and I will dig into my documentations and send-you sonting to begin whit. 1st you shoud learn general ASM programing for 8086 bazed cpu-s (making an tiny program whit the debuger or direct whit hview, implementing some memory modeles for some ports like dos, win16, win32) and after some instruction-s-set-s for other cpu-s as famicon G65SC802, G65SC816, SPC-700 ...
Sory for my english :]

About unlookin, yes can be done but not by anyone and not for all rom-s, when I will finish my hack I will loock-it manualy. If you unloock an rom loocked by LM you will have some palette problems and may some exgfx problems depending on how big is the rom. You can end-up whit combinations from the last insered levels and this is nice :

He could always move the lock code to a separate DLL and not distribute its code; hence you'd have the source for everything but that. But I sincerly doubt there'll be any source code released.

Way ahead of y... oh dear, I've said too much.

You might as well not bother locking your hacks if he did. Any Tom, Dick or Harry could remove the protection if he did.

I'm sure that if protecting the lockout feature becomes the main reason for not releasing the source, the creation and distribution of a lock removal tool could be arranged.

plus figuring out how to unlock a rom is rather easy as it is....the only sure fire way of locking a rom would be to randomly move stuff around beyond recognition for most editors and in order to do that with confidence you would have to make sure you know quite a lot about the rom as it is

YES. I don't understand why everything has to be integrated into LM...nobody seems to have a problem with the fact that jonwil's Block Inserter is a separate program.

I highly doubt that:

a) People would add more features onto Lunar Magic if it became open source.
b) FuSoYa would open source Lunar Magic.

I wonder if Fu ever plans on releasing the LM source code in the future, then, so that people could add features into it. It's nice that there are people now who can figure all these things out themselves (and hence save Fu the work) and maybe even make editors for them, but it's also silly to have 10-12 different editors for one hack.

Good point, in other hacking communities you have to use 10 diffrent seperate programs. Lunar magic is almost all-in-one editor...

Nothing stops other people from creating their own programs. Must everything really be added into Lunar magic?

Is incredible that Lunar Magic is completed and Fusoya is now without new ideas.

I hope he continue working with SMW 2 - Yoshi's Island or another great game.

He's not out of new ideas. He's got too many of them.

What he has now took him three years. What we want him to add will take atleast one more year and probably two more years, provided his research rate matches that of the first year (see the LM home page). But he just doesn't want to keep doing it anymore. It's pretty complete, Fu is pretty exhausted just doing ROM hacks on the side, working, and keeping on top of this forum and issues that arises, and so he neither wants nor needs to add new stuff.

jSmwDev is a development environment. right now it can only decompile the code in a friendlier way by commenting the decompiled code with known locations in the rom. at some point in time it will be able to edit the rom without having to compile/decompile. for those who arent asm hackers it will also eventually be able to do such things as sprite editing and whatever i have time to implement...im up for anything that will help...so i guess in a way since Lunar Magic's development is pretty much over other than bug fixes im willing to take note of features people wanted for it...as long as i learn where the things are im willing to add the features eventually to jSmwDev...

I hope.

I think that someone like BMF or another ASM Programmer should continue the project and add some more things to Lunar Magic over time.
If someone does, I'm not saying that they should constantly work on it all the time, but they should make some updates every once in a while.

If I knew ASM, I would be glad to continue the project, but I can't for obvious reasons. If some kind ASM Programmer out there would help me learn a little ASM, I would go much further with learning it on my own after that, and would definately continue Lunar Magic.

jSmwDev will eventually have that sort of thing just so you know ...but one step at a time
If someone lets me know where i can find that text ill add the feature at some point in time as well...

I've been considering whether I should make an ending editor, but I don't know if I would have the time. Maybe over the summer, when I'm not in school.

No, just pretty much finalized. If it was to be discontinued, it wouldn't be available for download.

Only very small changes or bug fixes will get in now. Only bug fixes will warrant a new release, and only then when a few bugs have added up, unless it's a critical bug (corrupting data or something like that).

There won't be any more Lunar Magics, it's done. The only thing left coming out are small bugfixes.
