Well, turns out my PCI USB 2/FireWire card has no internal connections. Off to find someone to pawn it off on, then get a card that does.

Of course, I DID just hook up my printer, and that has card slots...

Some PCI USB cards have internal connectors for casemounted USB plugs and the like. You could hook your bay unit up to that.

Well, my best advice would be to buy a small USB/Firewire hub, stick it in your case, and connect it to the rear of your computer, and to the front of it. Better yet, make it powered.

Is there such a thing that would allow me to connect the USB ports to my motherboard but allow me to stick another connection on there as well? It's kind of hard to explain.

Well, if I understand this correctly (and that's not usually the case) you could buy a PCI card with more USB ports. But if you want them in front, I don't think you'll be able to daisy chain them to one port. If you can, I am unaware of it...

Unless you hacked the motherboard at a physical level, I dont' think so...

what you probably will have to do is sacrifice the rear USB ports that are not built into the computer? My dad has two USB ports on his computer that are built in to the motherboard and a 4 port USB2 add-on for the motherboard (it is a unit that fits in an expansion slot but isn't connected via PCI but rather via a connector that connects to the motherboard). My firewire card has an internal firewire port for what I guess would be used by front panel firewire connectors...
