Might and Magic (as well as Wizardry) is a series I always wanted to try out. I played the NES port (?) and it was OK, but those are... well... definitely NOT console RPG's. Losing a few characters in the first battle = not so fun. But at least there's difficulty, can't fault the games for that.

First 3D jump? That's strange since the series was still going on into the late 90's... although only the last one (IX) showed any semblance of a graphics jump into 3D.

3D foray into the first person. Prior to that it may have still been first person, but this was their first 3D jump.

And if I remember, the game was substantially different...

Cool, but the person who wrote that article is an idiot. All of the Might and Magic games were first person, except for the Heroes of Might and Magic series. Legends of Might and Magic was not the first first-person game in the franchise.
