Ringodoggie: If your using the SMW Mario sprite, are you planning to change Mario's face on the costumes to look more SMW like?

Font quibble: I'm not a big fan of the "4", and IIRC (last time you posted screenshots), the horizontal bar in the "7" was too thick. But I like the shadow effect and how you made them 7 pixels tall instead of the scrunched-up font that the regular game uses.

I like the 2nd screen with that SMAS Hammer Bro. As for the first pic, try using stars instead of stripes, stars'll look way better.

The text box on the second screen shot is cute but the white stripes on the first
screen cause dislepsie and head dash.

Hammer Bros. Sprite has different colours on the map. BTW, the ice striped BG is removed, so no more bleeding eyes.

You said you were going for a night time effect? Well don't use black and white, but black and GREY instead. Also, your ground looks bad. It looks like glitched graphics to me.

Mario is very nice tho. Pipes, ? block, and ice blocks are VERY nice!!

As for the map...I don't even see a change in the hammer bros?

I'll have to agree with everyone else that the background is just plain hard to see. I hope you can get new screenshots after the level and world map get developed.

That background is making my eyes bleed, and the ground may be a little too black for nighttime.

Other than that, everything else looks nice

That level and the world 6 map are still being developed, so there's not many changes. This isn't GFX-only. And the screens are loading fine.

My problem with my first screen: the white stripes in the background. Also, level design seems identical.

Second screen: Map is not changed.

Apart from the complaints above, it doesn't look half-bad... altought I hope that you truly did more than just a GFX-only hack.

Yes, we may sound a bit spoiled but well... doesn't a SMB3 editor exist somewhere?

I've regained motivation to finish this hack, and here's 2 new screens:



A new small Mario sprite ripped from SMW. How's my ice level night time palette?



Improved Hammer bros map sprite.

I estimate that the hack will be done by August 8. There's not much left to do.

On a side note, I've found the format of the TSA for Mario's SMB3 sprite. The sprite always has 6 tiles (3x2) no matter what form. The blank tiles, in Mario's sprite TSA table, are labeled F1, which is never blank in the pattern table. Problably the value used to not load those tiles into SPR-RAM? Code is used to determine the palette, position relative to Mario's body, and mirroring of each tile in his TSA.
