sony loses money on psp hardware sales
if they had to choose from selling 10000000000000000 psps which people use for homebrew and selling 1000000 psps if it meant those 1000000 people bought several games and accessories for those psps, i think they'd take the 1000000
because we all know people who buy the psps for homebrew are probably going to pirate sony's games anyways, which no one here acknowledged my saying.
"except the ability to play homebrew also means the inevitable ability to pirate sony's games, which has already been possible for the last month or so."
pretty much -all- of sony's currently released psp games have been able to be played from the memory stick |

It is ironic. The very thing Sony is trying to fight is the same thing that changes my opinion from "PSP? Screw that." to "I'd buy one if I had a lot of extra money." |

True. But... the more systems you sell, the more games you sell as well.
I can't see anyone getting a PSP *only* for emulation purposes, although it might be their main use. Still, selling 100,000 (high number but still) due to that exploit means more potential games to be sold. It's all about market share. |

The money's in the games, not the systems. |

Hey, a lot of people picked up a GP32 solely for emulation/PC game port purposes so...
Funny though. I'd actually ENCOURAGE (well, not publically) independent developers to do stuff like that if it meant more systems sold. |

The fact that that feature is PLAYING THEIR COMPETITOR'S GAMES says more about the quality of the actual Sony-offered software than I ever could.
XD
I really never thought of it that way ... but yeah, seriously I've heard so many people basically say "Yeah I'd love to get a PSP just for Emulation". |

It'll get better as time goes on given the system's specs.
They'll probably also find ways to get around the firmware issues in due time. |

SNES emulation stinks, but its slowly improving. If you clock your PSP (impossible to OVERclock it), it makes some games like Zelda SNES work better.
Versions of PSPs with built-in web browsers cannot do emulation though, due to tightened security in the PSP firmware.

I hear SNES emulation isn't that great though ...
Supposedly it runs slow, but I guess if you overclock your PSP (hey you're putting emulators on it, why not!?) it works better, or something. |

Emulation - definitely. I can agree with that.
Web browsing... eh. Maybe someone can release some sort of keyboard attachment, then I think it would be feasible.
(Although it would be great to check stuff like sports scores on the go.) |

Damn dude, if I tried that I'd be hitting a few keys at once.
*shot*
Anyways ... this is a reason why I'd like a PSP, with emulation, web browsing and such. Still, I'd personally rather save my money for something else. |

Just another reason why I need a PSP. I heard the DS is better but I don't really care. There are a lot of games that I would like to play, and web browsing sound fun! |

Is that why it's loading slow?
I've posted in all sorts of odd ways. From various strange places, with my feet, etc. It's quite fun. (I should try to post from Telnet. ) See here. I could swear I made another such thread when posting from some obscure piece of electronics, but I can't find it. |

Oh yeah. PSP web browsing. I haven't updated my firmware due to the fact that it would disable ROMs and Emulators, and plus I don't have any WiFi hotspots near by.
Have fun browsin' the web! Is it easy to control, besides typing?
