That's awsome.
As long as the site doesn't die, I'll be ok.

And this board is not in the book, its on FuSoYa's SMW hacking site which is in the book with his old 404 address. I found his current address by typing his name in a search.

In short, the story is sit tight and wait... The only question is........how long?

That site is too awesome to go down. Why does all the bad things happen to the good people?

...

So the board's address (well, at least the old one) is printed IN A BOOK?

OK, we need to get some sort of "GO HERE" link onto the old page. ASAP.

Yeah, if i'm not wrong zophar was the first site to include hacks, and thats how i learned that rom hacking was possible. I would be too bad if it goes down. Too many hacks will be unavailable and also the links for their sites.

PS: when i first searched for rom hacking (in that time i knew that as 'change levels', that's how i searched in google) guess what was the first ocurrence in google: zophar's! (now i'm not sure if it continues to be the first )

Zophar has been around longer than I've known about emulation (1999). If I had to guess, it helped found emulation as we know it today. Had it not been for this book I still woun't know about this site.

It talks about Lunar Magic which has this site on the links page. Funny thing is that the link it gives for LM in the book is wrong thanks to the ZD change.

Heh, on it's ten years annivesary next year. Have the layout ever got changed once in it's nine years long history?

I can see why they want to redo it but...

Same here. Well, they linked me somewhere which linked me here.

So what do they mean by very soon... 2206?

Yes. I agree on this. The fact that there are hundets of news in the queue at zophars doesn't make me happier either...

All I got was: 'The entire system is changing very soon.'

Hey, if they go through with it, I can't complain, but I like my actions better than my words.

You guys might find this relevent

Posts like these have been popping up ever since the server change. Something is definatly happening, we just haven't seen it happen yet.

I guess an easier structure would be nice for zophars but they've got a lot of staff and they're all too lazy to do anything for the site? Just can't believe it...

It's really sad... many nice sites went down or are simply inactive lately... such as cherryroms, tototek, zophars, romhack.de (for the germans^^)... will this be the beginning of the end of romhacking? hopefully not

I downloaded editors few days ago and today the trial of Hex Workshop.
But I cannot believe that page could go down unnoticed - they surely need a lot of bandwith (I got a lot of PSFs from that page ), though they won't host too huge files, but going unnoticed down ... this is always the main address when it comes to emulation utilities and other stuff.

About the page design. Really nothing special like ever, but I liked that plain look. It might have given Zophar's a light underground touch (the page itself is fully legal, of course, no commercial ROMs - since ever I think), but if that page would have gone down ... d'oh.

If might be better to reorganize the staff, if they realized what is happening - if that page goes down, this is very bad for the emulation scene. Apart from the files also many docs and other things are on the server - and though there are also very skilled ROM hackers in here, nobody might find them - like FuSoYa's Lunar Magic, Lunar Address and others - not everyone knows his page is hosted on panicus since a longer time ...

Hell, they were talking redesign when I was on the staff... that was probably four years ago! I like the current site, but anyone who's seen the internal workings knows what a mess it is, that's what they need to do, reorganize all their files, not make the layout confusing (Look at the ROM Utilies section... oh, and that's the ass-ugly color scheme they were planning when I was still on the staff).

By the way, anyone know where they keep the table files now? I don't feel like tracking down all this damn DTE when I know they have a table for the game there...

Edit: By the way, I have a bad feeling one day the site will just *poof* out of existance... No one there is actually interested in running it, apparently.

It could also be that we don't know who's actually working on it. For all we know, it's SwampGas and nobody else. *shrug*

I know Gavin was making a new layout, as were ZeldaDD and a few others and some point in time. All either didn't finish, were rejected, or just wasn't implemented for whatever reason.

Well, since the site itself is basically broken, it should be incentive enough to be updated. I'm almost tempted to ask Swamp if I can help, but my time allotted would prevent me from doing so. *shrug* Guess all we can do is wait...

Hence the 'lazy'.

I'd be suprised if they pulled off a site redesign with as much as they've been lacking updates. Gavin's really the only one I know of updating anything as of late.

Yeah...though apparently they're moving slower than ass. They've been pondering a site redesign for years, and on the forums they sometimes give off the impression that it will happen soon.

A redesign?

That's strange... I know they've had the current look for years but I always liked it. Proof that things don't always have to be snazzy.

Ah, ZTNet. How we miss you. :\
