Well watch out, because in most cases you'll be overpaying a ridiculous amount. |

I'd rather have someone with experience do it, and overpay rather than do it myself. I always pay my dad back with interest when stuff like this arises. |

Bleh. Buy your own parts (best if you can get them online, stores will often rip you off so much you'll vomit) and put it together yourself. It's not too hard (as long as they're compatible) and WAY cheaper. |

No, my comp is done for. It's getting it's HDD and Motherboard replaced at the (really POS) Comp repair place. |

If CHKDSK keeps freezing, it's most likely a problem with either your hard drive or your IDE controller (probably the former). Is there any way you can put the drive in another computer and test it? |

Sound's like a problem with your pagefile. I would check to make sure you have a C:\PAGEFILE.SYS file present on your system. Make sure inside windows folder options you have it set to view system files, otherwise you wont even see PAGEFILE.SYS. But since it just started out of nowhere it might be signs of impending harddrive failure and I would backup as much as you can just to be on the safe side. |

Write down all the numbers, and search for the first one at Microsoft's web site. That usually gives you some information about what's going on. |

A few hours ago, I kept getting BSOD with some shit about IN_PAGE or something and it said something about atapi.sys. I checked the microsoft site for how to fix and it said run chkdsk. I did so, I had to reboot, then it was doing chkdsk just fine until 31%. It just froze after that.
I tried to get chkdsk to run again but it kept freezing. Finally, I booted normally after many tries but I'm afraid of a BSOD re-appearing, or perhaps my hard drive becoming screwed.
(More details coming soon.. Need sleep/trying online tech sites) |
