Actually, I think it's called that because that Link is BEFORE the NES Link. Then again, since www.zeldahq.com went down, I haven't really kept up on my Zelda storylines, so I may be hideously wrong.

Also, level only hacks are actually played occasionally, as long as your screenshots are neat. Heh. Also helps to not have shitty levels, but whatever.

Kei's right. Wait until you get really good, and then go back to your first hack and improve it, just like Anikiti did.

And BMF is that 1% that doesn't suck.

If I were you, I would still get friends to test out your first hack so they can tell you what they like/dislike about it. If no one but you tries out your hacks, you wont know what to improve, or what works.

Just don't release your first hack to the public (meaning this board I guess) and expect people to go crazy over it.

...which, most likely, won't ever be played by anybody but you. Seriously, with the quality SMW hacks reach today, nobody cares about a level only hack. Also, it is, in most cases, wrong to publish your first hack. They suck in 99% of the cases.

Well, at the beginning, I was not intending any Zelda reference whatsoever... instead, there was time travel, and I could not think of anyway else as an appropriate title for that (why is LoZ 3 called ALttP anyway? That makes no sense). Due to public pressure, I had to give in and add some LoZ 3 enemy graphics, though.

Well, I think it was blackhole89 (using your whole name like asked) has a SMW hack called, SMW: LTTP or something like that with some zelda stuff in it (a BG or 2?). Other than that I don't think anyone else has made anything related to zelda out of SMW.

Also, blackhole89's hack has nothing to do with zelda, or so I have heard.

I would love to see what you come up with.

If what you mean is a SMW hack using Zelda graphics, a Zelda-themes SMW hack, or even a LttP hack featuring Mario stuff, all three are cool ideas. If you could make at least a mildly entertaining hack with that idea, I'd definately play it; heck, I got a kick out of that old NES SMB hack that was 100% the same as normal SMB, only small Mario was replaced by LoZ Link and big mario was replaces by AoL Link.

Go for it. I don't think anybody's tried doing something like this yet, the reason being it would be too difficult. But it's at least worth a shot.

Moved it into SMW hacking, and hence out of my range of responsibility. A sly one, I am.
Actually, I felt like closing or trashing that thread, but then again, there are too many people in here who think we shouldn't treat stupid newbie threads too fiercely, and I would just end up being contradicted like in that empty window editor screenshot affair.
Oh well, it'd have belonged in here either way.

So long,
- blackhole89.
