Gamepad + mouse combo sounds better for the DS, depending on the game. For example, I think something like Canvas Curse would be a bit of a bitch.

I'm pretty sure that was disproven. Nintendo did say that DS would be a third product line, rather than part of Game Boy, but I can't imagine them keeping that idea.

What's wrong with a Mouse+Keyboard arrangement? Keyboard mimicks the buttons and the Mouse mimicks the touchpad functions...wouldn't be that awkward.

Next year is possible. They are really not doing anything at the moment.

I doubt they'd pull something out fast considering they have all their sights on Rev right now.

If they do pull out another console, handheld, I wouldn't expect stuff until '07, at least.

Haven't heard that rumor at all and would put no stock into it. My guess is that Nintendo's going to ride with the DS (and a bit of GBA) until Revolution. Then we'll see.

...

So what's the point of Nintendo having -two- handhelds then? I'm lost.

Not really since Nintendo insists that the DS is not a replacement for the GBA.

If they are right, then we know the next GB is imminent.

Personally, anything past the timeframe of SNES emulation is moot on my comp as it is. I'd rather have the console.

Only exception seems to be GBA...and with the DS being out it's already a 'dead' console or soon will be.

There'll likely be a good handful of games that either don't need the touchscreen or don't use it that much which will be good for emulation... and others will be more of a pain. :\ All depends on the game and a person's patience.

RTS games might work out well especially if there's a lot of touch action to be done.

Well I don't think game like Mario 64 DS that you can use all buttons will be akward. I had a DS and it was nothing special. Plus I thought an emulator would be out sooner than this. I guess I was worng.

And by next year, I'll still be stuck with a 447Mhz.

Or later this year. *shrugs*

None of the emulators being developed play commercial roms unless you're a NDS developer and have a copy of Ensata...

Nope.

Try again next year.

I was wondering about this for a while. Last time I checked on DS emulation, the emulators didn't play DS roms, they only played homemade DS games (roms). I was just wondering if any progress has been made on any of the current DS emulators out there and if they play DS roms yet...
