I really didn't mind controls like this, in RE, and Silent Hill games, etc.

But ... in RE, it is pretty much impossible to run away.
You have to sloooooooooooooooooooowly turn around, then run. Takes forever. But when I'm not fighting or anything it's fine.

But when you try to add in jumping into a control scheme like this, like TR games did, yikes, horrible controls.

I honestly couldn't care less about how she looks, and I know other old fans of the series who would agree.. None of us are "horny" for liking a game with a female leading role who happens to be slightly over stacked. (I admit it, she is, and that might attract some people, but the gameplay is what makes a majority of the fans.)

And I already explained the controls. Sure, some people can't get used to it, but the game wouldn't work any other way without completely revamping how everything that made the series works. (Which by the sounds of it, they might be doing for this next one..)

Sure, you could say "maybe they shouldn't have did it to begin with" but.. at the time, it was different, and worth trying out. And obviously a lot of people have an appeal for it.. Seems like a love it or hate it deal, there is no inbetween at all. As for the series being uninspired.. I half agree. Though it does have it's shining moments.

In one of the tomb raiders (TR 2 I think) when you go into the swimming pool, if you go to the bottom of it, where is the clanking coming from?

Irrelevant to what everyone is talking about I know, but I always wondered what it was.

I know, the newly redesigned Lara Croft looks great.

Oh wait, didn't they already "redesign" her 50 times already?

<--- Not a fan.

I played one of them, the controls were so bad I couldn't jump up unto this high platform, and from there on, I've hated these games.

Actually they haven't.. Lara has stayed pretty much the same.
She's graphically improved since TR1, sure, but that's not a redesign.. you could say the same about any game character over the years. (Random example: Mario drastically gets a makeover as the years go by, but we still recognize him, he doesn't change that much; neither does Lara.)

And the controls aren't bad. They are designed to be that way purposely.. it gives better control over Lara's surreal athletic skill, and allows her to do many daring stunts with it. Sure, it's sriff and takes getting used to, but the control has a lot of charm to it which allowed many interesting situations. Most people don't give it a chance, some just can't get used to it, those that do realize why it is the way it is, it wouldn't work any other way. (The gameplay would be very different with any other control scheme..)

TR1 was great, TR2 was also nice; though the story drifted into some oddness.. TR3 fits the same description as TR2, it was good, but sort of odd for her to be in such situations.. TRLR (AKA TR4) was great, back to the classic tomb raiding, and a glimpse into more of her history.. great story. TRC (TR5) was uh.. weird. It felt like a filler in the series, or an unfinished expansion to TRLR.. It was okay, but not something I'd replay probably.. Angel of Darkness, now this one I never played, but everyone I've ever spoken to has said bad things of it, so I've just kept away..

I guess I really don't expect much from the upcoming game.. But maybe they'll suprise me with something decent again.

The first one was the best, and actually was a very good game. The second is pretty good, but the rest are dire. The original creators haven't been involved since the first game, but they're behind the latest one.

Latest reports suggest the game is a little ropey at the moment, and they've implemented a "Devil May Cry" style combo system with the shooting *cringes*

Yup. This is Eidos' attempt to save the franchise after Angel of Darkness pretty much killed it.

I have a funny feeling it'll be a decent game (but not stupendous) since Eidos is due for some decent luck.

In an attempt to save the thread...

Isn't there supposed to be another Tomb Raider coming out after all of these years? I briefly saw a mention of it in GI last I read.
