I also dislike the fact that most features were removed. I don't find much of a problem with it though... I am just glad that the feature "Local Switches" was added; making it much of ease to end an event properly...

The only problem I find with RPG Maker XP is that scripting is required to get some of the features that were already in the previous RPG Makers. However, alot of people have already made scripts so it might not be too hard to find one.

RPG Maker XP has about 75% of the features that RPG Maker 2000 and 2003 removed.

This is basically the worst RPG Maker for several reasons which I'll list.

-The way the stats works is totally weird (read: 1 point of attack is NOT equal one point of attack. Magic effectiveness 1 does not equal 1 point of effect in-game. e.t.c.)

-Front view battle system + use battle sprites = Complicated (most of the time, you use the front-view battle system to AVOID using battle sprites) + Unimpressive (you use the side-view battle system for it to be more impressive.)

-Higher resolution for GFX = no ressources or almost (forced to use RTPs... which are quite worse than those in the last RPG Maker games). This also means that you can't use rips from any games or almost.

-Face graphics removed. That's really dumb, you know.

-Vehicles removed. Again, WTF.

-NOW that's damagining. No more than 1 sound at a time during a battle animation! Try and make an impressive battle animation when you're forced to use a single sound every 100 or so frames!

-Dumb level-up stats enhancements (can't raise main defense. Strenght barely do anything to attack raising. e.t.c.)

-I'll just stop there since I realise I'm beginning to rant.

Anyway...

If you want a RPG maker with a great strategic battle system that doesn't need 3000 battle sprites, pick RPG Maker 2000.

If you want a RPG Maker that allows you to make a FF-like RPG and makes good use of battle sprites, pick RPG Maker 2003.

Just stay the heck away from RPG Maker XP. Unless you know how to program using it's special language, you're basically using a program that is LESS advanced than the other ones... and what's the interest of using programation in a RPG Maker program? I tought that we used RPG Maker programs solely to avoid that: programing.

Anyway, that's it.

Have a nice day.

Remember in the old RPG Makers you could set a face tile so that when you talked to an event it showed the guys face? Has this feature been removed in RPG Maker XP or do I just don't know how to do it?

Please help!
