I'm now going with 5 sprites for each subscreen, or max 5-6 sprites for each 16 block range throughout the level.

I just fight with disapearing sprites.. it's a pain in the ass.

The maximum count depends on your sprite memory setting, click the lakitu head in the taskbar and in the pull-down menu, read the last number listed. That is your limit for regular sprites, but you're better off not using all of the entries at a given time. everything on the sprite layer is a sprite, nothing else is however (except bowser and the k. kids, but they're special).

Most of the time the limit is 10 sprites at a time, less in some other setttings.

Well, I don't know SMW's limits, but I can say that if you play on ZSNES and press 5 once, the things that disappeared are sprites. Mario, the enemies, Mario's fireballs, puffs of smoke, score displays... yeah.

Edit: I know I'm not helping that much, but it's 1:29 and I had two beers. I'll log off now

What is the maximal count of sprites for each screen, and what is all a sprite, and how counts Yoshi?

And in wich modes, how much does it decrease this number?

'cos I'm fighting with disapearing sprites.
