Kefka, I've already done the 1927 Yankees and 1986 Mets in my Baseball Simulator 2 hack here. So I want to give some new teams a chance. The Mets had a division winner in '88 also, and a lot of the '86 guys were on that team too, so maybe they'll get in.

Maybe I'll make it a "Best of the Late 1980s" hack. I've already changed the uniforms to match the 1989 NL, so I'll have to change a few. The pale-blue Phillies road uniforms are back!

The positions aren't saved where I thought they would be; that's becoming a problem. But I now have to ability to change uniform numbers at will, add "big" pitchers (there were three different types of pitching style), and create "Hall-type" pitchers who can throw unhittable pitches should they so desire.

Oh, and I can curve the ball to the point where it goes off the side of the screen, through some kind of superstring alternate universe, and back towards home plate where it sticks itself in the batter's ear. And when you consider that I can now make any number of batters charge the mound when they get hit, that's going to make for quite a few ejections!

As long as you have the 1927 Yankees and the 1986 Mets, I guess you're ok. Oh, and the 1998 Yanks, obviously. Or the 1951 Giants. Dang, NY has had some good teams! Hey, I picked four of your teams already.

If I were you Heian, I'd go with 12 teams from MLB history. That'll be pretty cool to see.

I'm getting started hacking Bases Loaded, one of the greatest of all NES baseball games (along with Baseball Stars).

This is one of the more "serious" baseball games, so rather than populate my new teams with scientists or TV stars or the like, I want to add real teams. I was going to use Japanese teams, but I've changed my mind and want to use MLB. The question is: should I recreate a single league (for example, the 1989 National League, and make what this game might have been had Jaleco gotten a license), or do 12 different teams from MLB history?

The latter is more possible that it would have been with Baseball Simulator, because this game's data contains "display stats" as well as "real ability stats". That means that you can put in a guy from the dead ball era who hit no homers, and give him a "power" rating that would approximate how many he might hit in today's game. Similarly, you can adjust stamina for pitchers so that the old timers won't complete every one of their starts.

This is a very deep game, and each team has 30 players. If I knew assembly, I'd love to add features like subbing players in before the game and defensive stats. But that comes later.

Any advice is very much appreciated!
