IMHO, the better ones where G/S. Correct me if i'm wrong, but in G/S it was introduced an electric monster that had 3 evolutions (I'll say them in jap. because i don't remember them in english: 1.- Meriipu, 2.- Mokoko 3.- Denryuu(Ampharos?)). Denryuu was one of my favorites, high HP gaining rate and high mg. attack (thunder), but in the series it appeared as dumb useless. Then, appeared Ru/Sa but i played it a bit and the next games didn't introduce anything interesting, just crap, so i stopped playing it and watching the series. The only monster that interested me in Ru/Sa was Bomanda (again, in jap, the blue dragon, number 324 i think), but since i don't watch the series now, i don't know what are his attacks

Yeah, the memories... Kicking everyone's ass in multiplayer was awesome. Seriously, I only lost once when my opponent got lucky with an ice attack. Nice that now it's actually possible to get out when you're frozen, back then you were just screwed.

Maybe Ice, then. There was something it was resistant to that something made of rock should be weak against.

I think Snika may have his the proverbial nail on the head. I still have a soft spot for Raichu, it being my favorite back in the day. Heck, I've still had a soft spot for Pikachu as well, ever since I realized I can REALLY piss of my friends when I use him/her/it to kick ass in SSBM.

Still, I have fond memories of the first time playing...and when I made my Wartortle evolve into a Blastoise when everyone else I knew still had thier Squirtles, Charmanders, and Bulbasaurs. They were freaked.

I think that memories are the biggest part of a game ever. Games are truly games when they can make the player actually feel an emotional connection, wether it be with the player inside the game or your mother in the real world. Thats what true games really are, and that's why we all secretly love Pokemon.

Why trade via memory card when there's the Interweb?

Your comments on RuSa make me sad, since they prove quite readily that you have no real experience whatsoever. And if that's the case, why do you comment? Advance may take some getting used to, but it's by far the best. But to really prove your ignorance... You say "Fish Pok

I own Green (orig., Blue for youu..), Silver, Leaf Green, Sapphire and Emerald, and my mommy owns Blue (you didnt get our Blue, you got our Green), Gold, Ruby, Fire Red, and Emerald. My sister owned Red, Silver and Leaf Green. I remember..she bought Red, Blue, and Green when they all came out as a surprise We played togehter and still do when I get a chance..and we would go to tournaments, too! Mostly mom and me..

we all loved Gold, Silver, and Crystal (which mom owns too I think..) the best of all, it was so cool! We were pretty disappointed that none of the advanced games used the clock as cool as Gold and Silver was. That part was so much fun..I loved it! Sitting on a subway at night and turning on the game, 8:24 PM, Wednesday..mm, just like it is here. The day activated events gave me something to look forward to, too. I still remmeber my mommy telling me before I went to bed.."Remember Eri-chan, the bug catching contest is tomorrow. I bet I will catch a bigger bug than you!" Memories..^^;; Some of my best memories with my mom are when we would get into games together, and G/S was a family favorite...it made us closer, I think

My favorite game is Crystal and I didn't like Ruby and Sapphire as much as Crystal. If they made a remake of crystal, I would buy a GBA just to play it.

I agree that the Gold/Silver games were one of the best in the series. They had a lot of features like different Pokemon in different times of the day. I think thats one of the first portable games to take advantage of a real time clock!

The asinine part being that you said the single player mode didn't count. Then again, there's a high likelyhood that I used the wrong word. I tend not to put much thought into things pokemon-related. =/

...

Point me to one asinine comment I've made here. I know I've said a few things directly as a result of my incredible arrogance, but asinine? No

Perhaps it's foolish of me to disregard every aspect except player VS player battles, but... Isn't that rather the point of the game? So wouldn't it make sense that the one with the most developed battle system (rather, the most fun battle system) is going to be better?

Watch it, Kyouji. That sounds a bit too much like telling him to shut up because he disagrees with you. I think you've both made your share of asinine comments in this thread, but I haven't said "why do you comment?" yet.

What I'd like to see is one game - probably Gamecube or Revolution - that included the entire Pokemon world, with every single one of the creatures available. Thanks to the magic of memory cards, trading (which would still be needed for certain event-related pokemon like the starters) and battling with others would still be quite possible, and having the entire land to explore could potentially be great for single-player people (or those whose friends simply haven't gotten the game yet).

But they'd make more money going with what they do now, so that'll probably never happen. Especially with kids that want to not only collect every Pokemon, but every Pokemon game as well.

R/B were awesome for their time. Simple and fun. The glitches made multiplayer a pain, though, since everyone just cheated. If you could find someone who didn't, Psychic just dominated like hell.

G/S were probably the best in the series. R/B and then some, with colour and twice as much to do. (Would have been nice to have the second world be like another whole quest as opposed to just some nostalgia though. ) Multiplayer still suffers, though. They tried to even it out by adding Dark and Steel, but didn't add enough of them. The only ones that they did add are way strong, so now all 3 types dominate like hell.

Ru/Sa are crap compared to the first 2. Barely good enough for me to bother finishing. The AI is cheap, there are way too many Pok

RBY was decent for its time but it nothing special now. It didn't have enough to allow much strategy to the game.

GSC was crap. It introduced too many new elements to the game and had no balancing factors. As a result, its battle system was damned awful; Competitive matches are nothing more than glorified stallwars. That's not fun. That's crap. When the best possible teams have no more than two attacks on any given pok

Gold/Silver are the best in the entire series. Yes, I own Ruby. Yes, I have played it a lot.

But Gold/Silver are just... just... better. They had the original Pokemon and a few new ones. The newer Pokemon for me were strange at first, but I figured out their weaknesses fast. However, in Ruby, I have a tough time figuring out anything. Besides, some of the Pokemon I feel like not catching. I don't see anything strong or weak about them. If I see an old Pokemon, I get it, but the newer ones... eh. I take it on how it looks (Mawile is so far the only one that I think looks cool...).

So yeah, G/S are the best ones in my opinion. Those had big time challenge. In Ruby, the only challenge was... ummm... eh... let me get back to you with this...

I forget my party for G/S, but all I know was that I had only one strong Pokemon, and that was Typhlosion (been a while since I played it on my Gameboy, and I can't play Gameboy games on my DS, so... yeah, years...).

My Houndoom, Tyranitar, and Nidoking just schooled you. :\

I forget what the other three I had. I'm pretty sure I had an Arcanine in the line-up for my G/S/C...and I think I was working on a Raichu. I know I got Nidoqueen and Starmie (<3) up to Lv. 100 too.
