Oookay, time to clear some things up.

First off, SPC is NOT a music format. The format the actual music data is stored in varies from game to game. SPC files are, just like the games they are, ROMs. Only that they don't contain code for the 65c816 SNES processor itself, but rather for its sound processor, the SPC-700. Henceforth, an SPC is more like a music player program for the SPC-700 with hardcoded music data. As the SPC is responsible for outputting everything you might hear during gameplay, there is a heavily used 4 byte bus between the 65c816 and the SPC-700, over which data is sent in a mostly proprietary format, which makes "importing SPCs from other games" mostly impossible.

Secondly, the circumstance Solar Soundtrack as well as DJ Bouche's hexadecimally composed music relies on is that we (i.e. a small conspirative group of 1337h4xx0rz

I think blackhole89 is working to get fix that memory leak,so I hope he could
post here about what's going on right now with SS. We all want to know about
the progress because this is a very interesting program and I can't wait for this
to be finish.

Well, I thought that it was some sort of memory leak in the program that was stopping it from being released, or something like that. Another reason that i'd heard was some windows API wasn't working with Solar Soundtrack.

Yeah, you are Darkflight right, because for what Gylph Phoenix said this program really is all we need,if you could be able to compose your own music...That Rocks!!!

This is the first time i have ever heard of this "leak".

What happened?

I think solar soundtrack will be completed, once the memory leak is fixed. I guess all we can do is wait, I guess.

Actually, the part about Zelda was true.

It is called "Zelda classic", it is almost like a game maker in it of it's self.
Just do a search on like yahoo or any other search engine of your choice for Zelda classic.
Oh and refrain from saying that anything i say is dumb and or stupid.

Mainly because it is very impolite to do such things.

We'd all like to be able to "just add all kinds of features to a program that could be used to edit Mario world completely, without the user having to know anything about ASM. "SIGH"" But we can't, now can we?

Everything in your post above is disgustingly stupid. Solar Soundtrack was so you could use sliders to make music, not so you could import it. If you have musical talent than writing your own SMW music shouldn't be boring and you seem to be under a lot of wrong impressions. That part about Zelda editors doesn't make the least bit of sense. Please refrain from making posts so unintelligent. They hurt my brain.

Well, if i could not...say import music from a game like..i don't know... super adventure island, then it would not be worth my time to even DL solar sound track.

I was under the impression that i could at least import music and sfx from other super Nintendo Roms.

But if you can not do that, then it just sounds boring, and i should just stick with what is already in Mario world.

It would be worth it if you could at least import other super Nintendo music into Mario world using SST.

As for making a editable non ROM version of Mario world, their is a Zelda editor that has nothing to do with hacking that exists, and has existed for some time now, and Nintendo has not shut them down.

I wish i was as smart as some of the people that are out there.

If i were, id do allot of things, like make a better lunar magic, or make something to make it to where you could edit layer 3 backgrounds.

And just add all kinds of features to a program that could be used to edit Mario world completely, without the user having to know anything about ASM. "SIGH"

I don't have anything against different kinds of music. I just think this idea's a really bad one.

Is there going to be a flag or something that makes this music thing run? Whatever it is it'll be a lot of work for a feature that just really abuses the system and potentially will cause problems for other roms running normally.

If you spent the time and effort that it would take to build a special emulator feature like that, why not simply make a program that will import SPCs into Super Mario World? You won't have any of those problems and you won't be utterly abusing the rom.

hhalllahh brings up a good, point though. Solar Soundtrack just fell off the face of the earth and it may never be completed.

If Solar Soundtrack wouldn't let you import new music to hacks, then there are much more reasons to bring new ideas,if someone had the same Blackhole89's skills or maybe better skills ,then why you don't try to realize other new ways of puting new music!

Haha. Solar Soundtrack.. I think it's about time that we labeled that as vaporware. A real shame.

And Kirby All-Stars!

BMF brought up a good point about the 'emulator playing MIDIs' idea a while ago. Don't think of it as a PC running an emulator... Think of it as a super-powerful unofficial SNES add-on! One so powerful it doesn't need any of the original SNES hardware. Of course, you would have to design it so that it will still play the original SMW music on a different emulator or a flash cart. Not everyone likes ZSnes; not everyone uses PCs for emulation; not everyone even uses an emulator. There are a LOT of Snes9x users, quite a few people who emulate on Dreamcast or Xbox, and a few who use a real SNES.

You know, Mario world as an EXE file that plays on windows and is just as customizable and used midis for music and wave files for sound effects.

I tried to do this once, but 3 things stopped me:

1) I only knew VB, so it was horribly slow, and things like the fade out at the end of the level were really hard.
2) Copyrights. It could only be legal if you didn't supply any of the original SMW resources, which would make it a pain. (Even if it was just like "select an SMW ROM... extracting... done, have fun editing", then people would never stop bothering me thinking this was some magic program that could easily do the same for any game. )
3) At that point, it's no longer ROM hacking now is it?

Nope, it won't be able. They are all in the same format, true, but AFAIK didn't made he that function yet. And I know a lot more about SST, because I'm a good friend of blackhole and we are often in contact on ICQ.

It will be able to import tracks from other N-SPC games, if i remember correctly.

That includes, Zelda 3, Mario Allstars, Super Mario Kart and a few others I cant remember right now.

SST can't import music from other SNES or NES games as far as I know and you can only edit the tracks, if you have an SMAS music patch applied to your hack. I don't know, if blackhole adds an import/export audio function, but who knows, cause it would be kickass.

OK.

Man, i can not wait until SST comes out.

I am not sure what it will be capable of, but i already have some music from another game from the snes, that i would like to use in my upcoming hack.

I wonder.
Will it also have the ability to import music from....like....sayyyyy a nes game, or will it be a snes music only tool?

The anticipation is driving me crazy go nuts.
