Thanks guys. As for the rest of you...

...Too hard?

Well, I can assure you, it IS possible to dash through Craggy Bay Act 1 in less than a minute... I've done it.

I can beat the origional Sonic 1 in my sleep, so for me it wasn't too hard at all... another factor would be that I designed it.

I apologize, guys! I honestly hever had this problem before... all my hacks are hard, but nobody's ever complained before.

I can think of only one solution to this problem...

Spoiler:
The Sonic 1 the Blue Blue Official Strategy Guide!

But I'll wait on that. I'm in the middle of creating another Rom hack. I can't tell you what it is, though... Check the Sticky Official Screenshots Thread from time to time, and someday soon you'll see what game I'm hacking next.

Awesome work, Sonic is one of my favorite old games.

Love your work, palettes and level design Schwa!

We actually need more Sonic hacks... Even more...

Skip down to the last sentence if you don't want to read the rant.

So, I played it... or tried to. I consider myself really good at the old Sonic games, yet this game kicked my ass. I think it's really cool, but the difficulty should be toned down a little bit. I'm used to being killed by games, so I'll explain my reasoning. Sonic games are about going fast. I may be mistaken, but show me a place in this game where you can go through a section quickly without dying. I can understand later levels requiring lots of timed stuff, but a Sonic game where you can't run through the first level is not a fun Sonic game. I suppose the difficulty curve is what I'm talking about. Whatever.

But the palettes are great! Be careful about my opinion of palettes, though... Check my SMW Chaos thread in the SMW forum for why. I thought you did an excellent job... so now it is everyone else's holy duty to hate your palettes. Sorry.

Eh, it was fun and cool, but way tooo hard.

Actually, I like the palettes for all of the zones, thank you.

Also, to Dwedit, if you think this is bad... well, you have seen NOTHING yet!... but well, that's unimportant since it's your right not to like the palettes.

To Dwedit: OUCH! *pulls thorn out of heart* *shakes head* Well, criticism doesn't offend me... it IS for a good reason, after all... Funny thing is, those on the SSRG didn't like Marble Zone either, but ya know, after 3 or 4 tries, everything you do to it just makes it worse. This is just one of those palettes you CAN'T get to look right! And what's even funnier is that SYZ and GHZ are freshly-changed palettes, like from yesterday (and even today). I thought it would look better than before, but I guess not.

But still, you're just one person. I want the whole crowd's opinion! Well, guys? Change GHZ and SYZ palettes, or keep 'em the same? I like suggestions. Hit me!

...And I though Red Mario Bros 3 had a bad color scheme... Ich!
The green hill zone looks like it's running on an old PC with a CGA graphics card!
The spring yard and marble zones also look bad.

Your Sonic Hack is awesome Schwa. Much better than the original game. It's hard for me to find any sonic roms and for that, this is my first one.

Hi, guys! Now, I have created this Rom hack about a year ago, but just recently I updated it to it's next version, 1.1, changing the colors a little to make it look more origional and changing some of the names to be more fitting. It also now comes with a Readme.

This is a Sonic the Hedgehog 1 hack, one of the only "good" (imo) Sonic level-hacks out there (I've played the others, and... ugh... yeah...). I posted this on the SSRG forums a year ago back before I had juiced it up, and even the harshest critics said they were impressed. But that's pretty much as far as it got... This Board is a MUCH bigger community than that place, and I want your guys's opinions on this.

Please play this hack, and tell me what you think! My goal is to get all the bugs out someday, and since I'm on a roll now, why not begin now?

Here are some screenshots for you to see how the hack is like. (Sorry about them being so big...) Remember, it was created with a bit of Schwa flair, so, as I said in 6th Grade to everyone... "Prepare to be amazed!" *shot*

Craggy Bay zone. 1: Swing across the gap, land on the platform, nail the spring... What a ride! 2: More swinging. the new Green Hill is on the summit, apparently.

Solara City zone. 1: Hit the switch and prepare for a platform-riding obstacle course. 2: Bet'cha never seen THIS before!

Luna Route zone. 1: The beginning of the Zone. Don't fall! 2: Remind you of Chemical Plant? *toothy grin*

ZZ Ruins zone. 1: Those darn invisible spriiiiiiiings! Grrrr... 2: Rare instance where Duck is useful. Time your jump to land on the block.

Time Canal zone. 1: Not much to say... though it IS a long way to go without air. 2: Oh no, the water is rising! *looks down* Oh, this is gonna HURT...

Gimmick Egg zone. 1: TRICKY part ahead! Sliding balcony, flippy platforms, AND vanishing floors! 2: Not much to say, but it's my favorite snapshot because it looks nothing like the Scrap Brain you're used to.

Special Stage is nerve-wracking. I redid them ALL, by decompressing the Hex data, editing it in pure hex, recompressing it and inserting it back into the Rom at exactly the same spot. They are all SUPER hard, and if you manage to nail all 6 Emeralds without savestates, you are The High Sonic Master. I haven't even done it without savestates. (I've beaten them all individually w/o savestates, but only by reloading to the beginning of the Stage each time I lost.)

So...
