Pittsburgh's looking deadly on offense this year... Palffy, LeClair, Recchi, Crosby, Lemieux, and Malkin if the new transfer deal will permit such, and they got their goalie of the future (MA-Fleury) back for next season along with a vet netminder in Thibault... but on defense?

And Detroit, I hate to say it to you Wings fans (or maybe I don't, I'm undecided), problably WON'T contend this year. They're too old and they don't have the cap money needed to bring back all of their prominent RFAs (Datsyuk, Zetterberg, among others), plus defense is going to be a minor question mark this season considering the age on that blue line. I'd be very surprised if they do any better this year than they did the last 2 seasons.

interesting...Roenick and a 2006 3rd rounder to LA for future considerations--that is almost the most vague deal ever...

At this point in time, the only teams who have not done any activity are Phoenix, San Jose, and the reigning Stanley Cup Champion, Tampa Bay... I would have added Detroit but they resigned Chelios...

Anyone want to take the guess which team has done well in all the activity?

(ding!)

Sent to the Kings for a pick. Other considerations on both sides, but I don't remember them and they're minor.

EDIT: Whoops, make that Roenick AND next year's three for "future considerations". Uh-huh.

The line will probably be VISIBLE on the ice, but won't have an effect aside from being an indication of where the center of the rink is, more or less.

well..discounting doesn't mean removal so we'll just have to see--i would prefer the line to still be there even though it is meaningless to the point of just a division of the ice

Get rid of the red line would be good, too.
The red line is now gone...although, it would be weird just seeing a circle in the center of rink... however, the two line pass problem would no longer be a problem anymore if you don't see it

the sharks pick #12--better than the 25+ they would have received....

I thought they were going to leave the line in, but not use it for the purposes of two-line passes.
