From my experiences, British food is probably the worst in Europe. The best meal I ever had over there was a BK Whopper. And the London bombings are completely irrelevant, it doesn't magically make their food better. |

What with the bombings in the London transit system, I'll bet the French and German PMs feel terrible. That they should. You should never speak ill of someone behind their back, because you never know if they could be listening. In this day and age, you should never poke meaningless fun at an entire nation; it could be the victim of an orginized attack the following day. |

Have the G8 meeting here in Australia! We'll serve 'em chips, meat pies, battered fish, a couple of barbicued steaks and maybe some kangaroo. Yep! Ours is the only country where it's legal to eat our national emblem.

The great thing about Pasties is that they were born out of neccesity. The cornish pasty gained it's trademark ridge because old style pasties were indirectly poisoning tin miners. Miners would eat one half of the pasty while holding one half, then finish off the half they were holding- which was smeared with dirt and tin that their hands picked up while mining. Eventually miners were poisoned by the deposits that covered their pasties in. The Cornish Pasty had a tough ridge on it that they could hold while eating the pasty, and then throw away afterwards
A lot of the most famous British food was born out of the working class, something that the rich and poor could enjoy as a treat. The most famous foods you can buy from any town for a couple of pounds, not from an expensive restaurant like in Paris. We're proud of our chippies and we don't charge a fortune to locals or foreigners when they want a good piece of traditional English food.
It's true that the British have lost their way with the food that it has grown up on, and we're not as proud as the French, but things are changing and I challenge the leader of a nation that is famous for eating snails to find a better arguement against us. |

To be honest, I love British food. But it does indeed pale to the mastery of the French. I mean, Steak and Kidney Pie or Cornish Pasties are good and all...But Fillet Mignon and other delicacies... |
