Fair enough, fair enough, as long as it gets done really. It's just that such sucky excuses kinda suck

Well, I fixed it now anyway, so it doesn't matter. The thing is, I already knew about the status bar palette "problem", and I don't really find it that bothersome to have it change colour from level to level, as long as it doesn't look absolutely horrible. That, and it's not all done yet anyway.

You know what? It may surprise you, but I *don't really care* that you're doing it for your own enjoyment. I mean, so do I, but that doesn't keep me from taking the trouble to fix stuff when people complain. As Lord Trasher says, it's quite easy to get rid of. If you're so lazy that you don't even care to fix something like that (I mean, come on, this is all 8-bit, it should NOT be hard to find room) then why the hell should I trust you to do anything else right?

I'm glad most of you think it's a cool idea. That's the kind of thing I wanted to hear.

Now, as for knowing what's solid, for the grass, the 3rd row of blocks, counting from the bottom, will always be solid. Everything above that won't. Also, you can't swim in the water. (Sometimes the green blocks may or may not be solid. Though, there is a way of telling whether they are solid or not. If they're above the third row, they're not solid in all cases.)

The maps won't use regular levels, except for in villages. Though, there will be no enemies, or gaps in the villages, so no worries there. The other maps will use the regular overworld maps.

Oh, and as for the status bar problem. I am well aware the colors don't match between the levels. And quite frankly, I don't really care much about that, and I AM doing this for MY own enjoyment in the first place. So please, shut it, and I might just fix it, IF I plan to do a release. I posted these screens to hear what you thought of the concept itself, not the status bar palettes..

Not the same without music, like the music Blackhole was importing into SMW format in this thread?

OMG TEH COLOR IZ SLIGHTLY OFF FIXE IT NOW!!11!
That's directed at the people who scream and whine about a little discoloration in the status bar... It's not even that bad here, there's been much worse...
The reason we scream is because it's disgustingly easy to avoid.

Haha. Someone should do a Cave Story tileset thing. BMF.
I've been twiddling with the idea of importing some Cavestory stuff to SMW, but it just wouldn't be right without the CS music. You know?

Anyway, it looks hard, simply because I haven't played it and thus can't tell what's solid... Will the map be done like this as well...

LOL

This is sooooooo odd.
I just got done downloading both part 1 and 2, and have been playing the crap out of them.

And now this, lol.

This is like some odd coensadance.
(probebly spelled that last word wrong)

I do think it is cool though.

StarTropics was a good game for the NES platform. I wonder how are you going to make this game here? By the way, the screenies looks good!

Lately, I have been inserting graphics from this NES game called Startropics into SMW, and making levels in SMW based on the levels from Startropics. I've been doing this all just for fun, and at first, when I started doing it, I had no intentions of making it public. I thought of this just as my own little project. Although, later on, I started to get kinda curious about what you would think about this idea (the original game had an overhead view style of gameplay). So, yeah, here are a few screens.

I've only made levels based on World 1, 2, 3 and 5 from the original game so far. (There were no levels in World 4 of the original game.)

World 2:

World 3:

World 4:
