In no particular order....
Zero from the Megaman X and Megaman Zero series. Debuted in MM8 I think when Wily was being Wily. He is the original maverick, and also caused Sigma to be Sigma. Pretty much a bad ass, and does have some good one-liners to boot.
- Auron from Final Fantasy X. One of the better theme songs for any character I've heard in a great while. A somewhat mysterious character, never failing to drive Tidus crazy.
- Kefka from Final Fantasy 6. Nuff said.
- Lu Bu from the Dynasty Warriors series. Based on the real life Lu Bu from the old days of China. The most effective killing machine of any character (once you see the two-square-triangle move you'll know what I mean.
 )
- Exdeath from Final Fantasy 5 (X-Death if you go by the PSX translation). One of the better villians of the SNES era, but ranks behind Kefka. Also has an incredible theme song (but is bastardized by the PSX, so refer to the SPC). Just has the certain quality that few villians have.
- Cid from Final Fantasy 7. "Shut yer god damn mouth and drink yer god damn tea!" Ok, maybe Sony overdid the translation a little bit... At least they kept the title the way it should've been! *Points finger's at Nintendo* He also has a good theme song (there's a trend building here)
- K.Rool from the Donkey Kong Country series. Only because he loves causing trouble for DK, really.
- Lenneth from Valkyrie Profiles (and used in Star Ocean 3). My reference is to her in SO3. Constantly summons (or revives) old foes of the game "with power that was never revealed in the main story!" When you first run into her, it's pretty funny too. When you finally get around to fight her though, she's a bad ass.

I had to think quite a bit before commenting here...
Vivec, Dagoth Ur, and Nerevar, from Morrowind. Their roles in the events of the game are limited, but... well, go into the history of Vvardenfell. Quite interesting... and sometimes, those who are believed to be good might not be. There's few clearly stated decisions on whether or not they're "good", and all of them are contestable through information in other sources. I have my opinions, and I'll leave it at that. Read the in-game books, form your own opinions, and maybe we can discuss it another time.

1. Kunio from the Nekketsu(Hot blooded) highschool series. Also famous for River city Ransom.
2. Janne from World heroes series.
3. Terry, Kim kaphwan, Jin chonrei, Gato from Fatal fury series.

I think God's Hand from the Black and White series has gotta be my favorite. I mean, that hand can suck up grain, throw people, pet giant monsters, and he drags himself across the landscape just to get places! I mean, thats freakin' awsome!

Their background story:Mathew Wayne, a great mechanical engineer, lived in a small country town. He owned a small automobile factory. His young sons, Brian and Jason, were influenced by his work. The sons were taught by his father [almost] every tricks of the trade of becoming a mechanical engineer as great as he was. A few years later as their father retired from his profession, Brian and Jason took over the operation of the factory. As years rolled by, words of their designs, vehicles and high technical capabilities passed from one town to another until it reached the ears of the federal government. After talks with the managers of the federal weapons development, the Wayne brothers accepted a contract from them. The assignament, for the Wayne Brothers, is to develop a new line of military vehicles and weapons for them. Under its abundant funding, many weapons, vehicles and aircrafts were built. One morning, the sky turned dark by the oncoming fleet of planes and the echoes can be heard from a far distance. The weapons and the vehicles that the Wayne brothers originally developed for the federation destroyed every towns and cities - including parts of their own. Seeing that their weapons has caused another war and claimed many victims, Brian and Jason regrets the entire situation and sets off to dig the graves of their own work.
So... basically, these guys set off to destroy their own machines. Plus, they look awesome. |

*cracks knuckles* Okay, here we go (in no particular order)...
1) Ada Wong: She was pretty cool in RE2, but Ada in RE4 is like finding 10,000 shares of stock in Google that you forgot you had. Unexpected, yet awesome beyond all belief.
2) Morrigan Aensland: Nobody gives enough love for Morrigan anymore. Odds are, I CAN kick your ass with her.
3) Cammy: See above.
4) Nightmare: The first time I played this game all those years ago, HE, Voldo and Astaroth were the only three things I remembered about the game. Not even the game name.
5) Nemesis: Staaaaaaarsss....
6) Kabal: The most badass MK character. Ever.
7) Akuma: Remember how awesome it was back in the '90s when we first found out he existed? You can't recreate that feeling easily.

Well, I say the Master Chief, even though I know that a lot of you people don't like Halo.
But yeah, I'd have to agree that Link's pretty badass, although I wish Nintendo would make a game where he actually f-ing speaks.
Yeah, when it comes to females in video games, it doesn't get much better than Samus, despite what the DoA and Tomb Raider fanboys may say. |
