But thats the problem - EV won't load. SHould I try to find a new copy of the ROM?

EDIT: Actually, I'll try what you said. Should I add the entry object FE in a hex editor to 04Data and 05Data?

That error occurs when a type of object is loaded that EggVine does not have any data on. This should not happen as EV handles all the types of objects in the game. You likely still have an incorrect version of the ROM.

You can fix that specific error by adding an entry for object FE to either O4Data.dat or O5Data.dat, but no levels actually have that object, so you're not going to be getting a real level after you do this.

I recomend reading the little popup that shows up when EV loads and going to a thorough ROM site and downloading the specific version it mentions.

Yes, I do

EDIT: Ok, I don't have that error anymore, but sadly, I have a new error

"Unknown object type (WEIRD error!) : Object FE thinks it's type0
Bad things will likely happen if EggVine keeps running. Aborting.

What is that?

You expect to be able to hack a rom when you can't even add a header to a rom??? :\ Oh my.

Or just download a rom that has a header.

No, no, no, no.

Open the ROM in Hex Workshop. Make sure the cursor is at the very start of the file. Go to Edit, then Insert. Click the Hex radio button, and type 200. Hit Ok.

Ahh, so you mean I write

#$20000000000?

Is that right, or wrong? I follow you, just not sure where to put it.

It's definitely lacking a header, and that message you got is because you have no header. The Yoshi's Island ROM with the (M3) symbol after it doesn't have a header, if that's what ROM you have. Regardless, you need a header.

So you need to add #$200 bytes of zeros to the beginning.

Thanks Ill try it out and see if i can figure it out

EDIT: Hmm, I don't think I quite get this. When I open my YI ROM in Hex Workshop, this is the first few lines I get:

00000000 | 78C2 09FB E230 A900 48AB 4848 2B9C 0042 9C16 40A9

Actually, thats my first line. The last, I'd say, 50 lines, are all FFFF FFFF FFFF FFFF. Is my ROM good or bad, or do I need more data?

DOUBLE EDIT: Forgot to mention earlier, another window that pops up when I load EggVine says *Abnormal Bank Number. Level may not load properly.*

No. Pick one from the selection on this page.

Thanks, is the hex editor in LM?

Better yet: Open the ROM in a hex editor and scroll to the end. If the last address is xxx200, it's fine, otherwise go back to the beginning and add (NOT overwrite) 0x200 (512) bytes, all 00.

Open the ROM in a hex editor, and see if it has a LOOONNNNGGG string of 00's in the beginning. if it does, then the ROM is okay, otherwise google for SNEStool and add a header to the ROM.

Thanks. It is a 1.0 version, but I dunno what you mean by header and SNEStool. Is that a program, and if so, where do I find it?

Also, make sure it has a header...if you have a v1.0 ROM that still doesn't load properly it probably doesn't have a header. Just use snestool to add one.

Check to see if the ROM is US v1.0. Otherwise it work with eggvine.

I just got EggVIne, and tried to load my ROM of YI into it to hack, but it said (caused a weird error, bad things will happen if you continue) or something like that. Anyone know the problem?
