FF8 easily has my favourite ending of any FF game. In fact, it is my favourite FF game...There is something about it that makes me tear up when I see that ending CG.

Spoiler:
Basically Zidane goes back to rescue Kuja (His 'brother'... evil) from the depths of the Iifa tree. It turns out that they both get stuck there while the rest of your party escapes for the better. Afterwards it goes into the traditional "What are your party members doing afterwards" cutscenes. At the very end, another play is being put on for Garnet, now queen of Alexandria. The play goes on as normal, and at the very end, who pops up on stage, other than Zidane! Garnet rushes down, loses her amulet, but goes on anyways.

Its the traditional guy gets girl type thing, but it just had a place of greatness in me I jst loved it.

FFX was the most emotional ending ever

I liked FF9's ending too because it basically wrapped everything up even though yeah it was a usual one that was predictable.

Yeah FFX's ending was very emotional

I loved all the "failure endings" from Clock Tower (SNES).

Especially the ever so memoriable one you get from "cheating" the game and driving away in the abandon car that's located fairly early in the game. If you want to see it, just find the ROM (translated of course) and do what I just told you. You won't forget it.

I also liked Rockman 8 ending, mostly because in PSX games there were videos included. The videos where real anime of megaman, not the other crap that everyone know

Majora's Mask had an awesome ending. I spent days trying to beat that game.

Then I get to the end, and it has this awesome plot twist! The screen just stopped moving. I was like OMG LINK IS THE MASTER OF TIME!

Then I realized that the N64 overheated and locked up.

Either way, cool ending.

Hrm.... Ending to Final Fantasy Tactics was pretty sweet. Earthbound too.

But the best ending has to be in Chrono Trigger:

Spoiler:
1: The programmer's ending? Hell yeah, meeting all the programmers and stuff, learning about the 9999 hit combo, and just having the developers make fun of you is great. Plus, taking on Lavos as Crono alone is just awesome.
2: The Frog ending: When everyone in your world turns into a frog, what do you do? That's what I thought.
3: The Repetite Ending: Same thing. Same. Thing.
4: Frog Vs. Magus: Godly. You don't even see the fight but you know it's good. The best part is that technically, you don't even know who wins the battle (my wager's on Frog: as the credits roll the last thing you hear is the Masamune slashing).
5: Lavos Ending: Yeah, the world can end. Boo Hoo, try again. Loser.
6: Magus Vs. Lavos: Hey, we all knew it was possible. He doesn't lose his powers, and hopefully he kicks some REAL arse.
7: The Nu ending: No clue.
8: The Regular Ending: I guess that's pretty cool, with the whole rise above the clouds thing...
9: The Black Omen ending: The cool part about this is that your past and future is altered by whether or not you killed Magus. I like seeing Frog turn back into a human, and it's worth it to see Crono not be in the party and to check out what happens.
Then there's the variations on the real ending: Whether or not Crono's alive, whether or not everyone tumbles out of the telepod, whether or not Lucca comments that human Frog actually is kinda cute, whether or not the telepod is used to save Crono, whether or not Marle comes with them.... I'm not entirely sure which ending is the real one, myself... But there's definitely a lot of variations.

Come to think of it, anyone actually KNOW the real ending to this game?

While I can't put a label on the one thats better than all others, the ending of FFX was pretty damn good.
Spoiler:
When Tidus jumps off the ship to meet his father, as Yuna tells him she loves him...that's touching stuff right there...

Earthbound was also one of the more satisfying endings to a game I've ever seen, hands down.

EDIT: Fixed the spoiler tag. -EE

I really don't like very many endings of games, a classic heroic ending was Shining Force 2.

Spoiler:
Bowie, main character, and everyone finishes up Zeon, the princess who was kidnapped by Zeon kinda early in the game is under some curse so she won't wake up. Bowie kisses her and she wakes up, they fall in love, tradition legend/hero type ending.

There were a lot of good games, most endings aren't very good though. Out of all the final fantasy's, I'm only happy with IX, IVs, Vs, and VIs endings...

Mine has to be final fantasy 7 ending. It left room for a misunderstood ending. Not all was known about what actually happen. I felt forfill with its ending however.

I also liked MGS 1 ending pretty nice. Kinda made me sad yet forfill again. I have played any of the other MGS games yet, I've no money :p

Thanks for clearing that stuff up, Clockworkz and Grey.

Megaman 7 is the only Megaman game besides X7 and X8 I haven't beaten, now I feel ... more complete.

... I guess?

Actually...
Spoiler:
In the japanese ending to Megaman 7, Megaman doesn't say "I am more than just a robot!" He just stands silently, knowing there's nothing he can do to stop that rule. It's a simple mistake that the american translators put in that's caused so many disputes in message boards relating to the megaman/megaman X connection story across the internet. God damn you, Capcom of America. God damn you.

Megaman 7. Hells yeah.
Spoiler:
After Wily's last ship explodes, he falls to his hands and knees and says, "Alright Mega Man, you win. Sorry for all the trouble. I'll go quietly." At this point, Mega Man charges up his mega buster and says, "I don't trust you Wily! I gonna do what I should have done years ago!" Wily backs up saying, "You forget, Mega Man! Robots can't harm humans!" Mega Man quits charging and says, "I am more than a robot! Die, Wily!" At this point, an alarm goes off and part of the ceiling falls, pinning Wily to the floor. A small piece then bonks Wily on the head. Treble comes down, barks, and teleports Wily out. At this point, Bass appears and says, "Too late, Mega Man! He who hesitates is lost! We shall return!" Then he also leaves and the alarm sounds again. The credits will roll, during the credits we see each boss robot Mega Man faced in the game, along with its designer and number. The last 2 to be displayed are Bass and Treble. At the end of the credits, the view goes to the sky where a shooting star can be seen, then back down to Big Eddy's. Mega Man goes inside and a photo is taken. Beat flies, Rush yawns, and Auto (with his hyperbolt in) puts up his fan for the photo, which has a red dot like the Japanese flag.

Best. Megaman ending. Ever.

I like the programmers ending in CT, cause it's great fun and unique. The ending to RE is really funny, cause, well, Leon says No which I was really hoping he wouldn't cause I'd love to see how that would've gone. FFT had a pretty sweet ending too. Also, EB is awesome, everything about it is great, BOING.

That, or I'm seriously mixing Terranigma up with some other game.

Either way I should really go back to play that game, or finish Illusion of Gaia at least (just hasn't grabbed my attention really).

Yeah. I think you had just revived humans. Were you up to a part where you had to follow/lead a lion cub around a canyon? Or was it in Tokyo, where a little girl gets stuck in the sewers, and you find the lion cub you helped earlier in your quest about to eat the girl?

That game is one my my favorites. Your decisions can alter cool stuff in that game.

Flood. Hell yeah.

After surviving a million lethal traps and next-to-impossible manuevers, our hero finally manages to get out of that hellish cave he spent the entire game in. Fresh air. Finally!

...then he's run over by a car. The end.

Earth. Freaking. Bound.

One of the best game endings to one of the best games. I love it. Sadly, it's been so long that I don't even remember it that much. I just know it ruled.

Secret of Evermore is also awesome, especially if you wait a bit after it gets to "THE END." That part is funny, yet disturbing sorta.

And, finally (because I'm too lazy to continue thinking up games), Chrono Trigger. Yeah, maybe the ending itself isn't spectacular, but I'm sorta counting the entire end thing, including the final battle. Killing Lavos fucking rules.
