Since you asked. I've wanted to play a hack with Green Hill Zone with the music and everything.
Another cool idea would be using DKC graphics for one world, Yoshi's Island graphics for another. Again with the music.
Just some ideas. |

The best piece of advice I can give you: Don't make threads like this. It'll just round up a million either impractical or stupid ideas that won't be worth implementing. Focusing on making your hack catered to certain people will just slow you down and make the whole thing less fun. |

Try making your own exgfx, that way your hack will be different from everybody elses. Maybe make your own enemys, you can't change the sprites, but you can change what they look like and make them something different.
Remember that it doesnt have to be the traditional Mario game in the mushroom kingdom, you could make him a secret agent, or a super hero, or even just an ordainary guy who just always happens to run into trouble all the time.
Don't be afraid of somebody hating your hack, try new ideas and if they don't work out then try again. |

Put shyguys in it!
Make sure you have a lot of backgrounds from different games. It might be a good idea to make enemies different via graphics editor.
Make all types of ground in your hack. Just blue Blocks won't cut it. Add some moving platforms and the like.

And make sure you put music in coherence to the mood your level sets. If it's a graveyard, then put castle music in it. If it's outdoors in a sunny day, put some cheery music in there. |

I need ideas for my first hack. Tell me what you like in a hack, like what ExGFX
to put in or how game play should be, etc. Try to be pretty specific. I need to know
so people won't hate my hack. |
