I am going to have to agree on the horse. Course, I wouldn't have the faintest idea what to suggest, other than looking at photos of horses (and chess pieces) to try to get something a little bit better.

Nice work. I like the look of the chess pieces. But the horse needs work.

Looks good! I like most of the pieces, except for the knight, but I have one question- How did you do the chessboard? A set of planes, a group of boxes, or did you use an editable poly?

I'm not familiar with 3D Studio Max, but I hear it can get pretty complex.

That's not too shabby, reminds me of what you could find with a computer chess game. The biggest flaw that sticks out for me are the knights. It's like you got bored and just stuck a cylinder there.
