Odd, there never been anything against same-sex marriage in Sweden. Though the marry in a non-relgious way of course. 
Gay people seem generally accepted around here in Sweden. Most people I know speaks for gay people and there was a recent discussion if homosexual people should be allowed to adopt children. And I think they got allowed to, as I only recall one party being against it... a relgious one. |

In Slovenia a law that would allow homosexual civil unions was about to be passed, but just as it was to be passed, the elections came and a new government came to power. They immediately trashed the new law so I guess we won't be seeing that soon... |

Here in Switzerland are some talks, to 'loosen up' the mariage thing, most for the taxes (instead of both incomes as one, both are taxed seperatly). |

Odd thing is that all of these nations are in the majority Catholics.
You know, a month ago...I was totally for it. But now, although I'm still whole-heartedly for it, I've a few problems with it. What I want to see is the government get out of MARRIAGE all together. No gay, no straight. I want to see the government hand out civil unions, therefore allowing the recipients to seek sanctification.

Although I totally don't see what the problem is with it. It's not destroying marriage in any mean. I was actually talking to my mom. It's insane, she is still married to my dad. What's CRAZIER is that society is still holding together. No ravening beaver has attacked my house, kill my dogs and turned me into a homosexual. The problem is that there is no inherent problem with legislated gay marriage. No magical apocalypse is coming. Marriage as a "traditional" establishment isn't even 1000 years old. Up until then symbolic marriages happened all the time between men, in many different cultures. And I'm not saying "you and I are married now as brothers", it was "you and I farm together, live together...we became brothers. Now we are joined for eternity". Then there was a schism in the Church leading to the break-off of the Orthodox, and a lot of the influences that the practise had...died off in the West and then it was outlawed in the East.
Aditionally, I've heard a lot of good arguments using scriptural sources as a way of defending a pro-SSM stance. Of course, the people who were being debated against got angry at this and literally started shouting and screaming that they were abusing the word of God, and that it was impossible for humans to understand what He meant because He is pure. Then this same person turns around and starts quoting Bible passages seemingly "proving" that God doesn't just want gays to not marry, but HATES them. The other debater said "well, how can you say that? You can't interpret His words...". The other one just stormed away from his side of the podium. It was hilarious.
Plus, I have a problem with limiting civil rights of peoples. The LBGT in this nation have had to work hard for equality outside of the big cities. The problem is that there are small, but influential groups that receive massive funding from the U.S. that are trying to not only stop marriage (and failed  ) but also trying to limit other facets of gay life. Some of the fringe groups are calling for illegalization of homosexuality and mandatory "ex-gaying" experiences. The majority simply want to alter the Hate Crimes legislation to exclude gays from criticism (which is something that REALLY scares me). |

yeah...watch, all the gay couples will come up here to get married, just so they can say they are officially married...although they have to wait til the end of july I believe...although I could be wrong....
btw, canada is only the 3rd country where it is legal in the whole country |

Canada is not alone, there are several countries or states, that allow same sex mariages or similar. |

Well, it is official. The bill has passed. Same sex marriage is now legal in Canada and will be recognized.
