Didn't the NHL talk about making the refs more strict. That'll mean less fights. Then the ratings for hockey games will decline greatly. Then I'll stop watching them. Ouch, that's bad.

Bertuzzi got hit to hard I think. This isn't the first time a player lost his mind. I thought that's what hockey is about anyway.

Word. Especially seeing how Moore's hit on teammate Naslund was an accient. Bertuzzi is better known as Dirtuzzi now.

I think that while what he did was a little brutal, that the punishments that you guys are talking about are way too much, sure he did hit him from behind, but they had been setting up for a fight throughout the whole game, you cant base your opinion on the hit by just the little clip that keeps being shown on the news. And while I agree that he should be suspended and fined, i also dont think that he should have been suspended for as long as they have already, and may go longer. Hockey is a brutal game and things like this happen all the time, Gary Bettman is probably going to such extremes with this case to set an example for the future.

Monarx, if there's a lockout then that punishment would make no sense.

There's not going to be any suing. The NHL itself, no matter how sympathetic they are to Moore, would not want to get into a legal battle.

Sue to the player not the team.

The problem though was other players have given a sucker punch but the fact that buddy fell and everyone jumped on him severed the injurys the NHL board is blind to see this. People just dont think, it was just Bertuzzis luck what happened because ive seen it done even in the QHL.

I think that as long as Moore's out, Bertuzzi should be.

Give him the chair.

No, no. I think he should have been suspended until the 2005 Stanley Cup Finals are over and fined however much Moore's contract is worth from that incident until then.

hmm...then i gues ESPN did a typo because that was where i got the $250,000 CND from...

if it was $250,000 CND, then they wouldn't have paid so much, only about $187,500 USD

They should (obviously) only penalize Bertuzzi, I mean, wtf could the organization do? Read his mind and stop him?

I thought it was Canadian, since the Canucks are a Canadian team and all.. How much is that in Canadian dollars?

And yes, the fine is kind of stupid. But oh well.

i find the fine towards the canucks retarded, but bertuzzi got what he deserved. in some ways i'm glad he's out, he doesn't play his best when he needs to, he is usually just seen cruising the ice.

Yeah, he went way over the line. He most likely didn't intend to hurt Moore that badly though. I don't think so anyway..

He got what he deserved. Serves him right, and I'm happy he's out.

The fine is shite. Unless there's something we don't know about and the team was actually involved in it, you don't fine them.

Bertuzzi, though, got precisely what he deserved. I wouldn't be surprised if the league held him out as long as Moore would be out, but no longer than a year. It seemed like something that he intended to do, but not hurt him THIS badly.

Considering what Bertuzzi did, I'm not sad at all. The Canucks got a $250K fine? Sheesh........ Well, there were reports that the coach heard something like this might happen and did nothing to prevent it. I'm not sure about how much truth there is to it though...

hmm...in some ways, at least it was in CND... oh yeah, the league did warn vancouver about such an action so maybe that is why was high? in addition, i think the league also wanted to make a point that teams share the responsibility of such a thing--i recall the league warning vancouver about such a reaction...

i believe the punishment is good enough...if the vancouver goes 4 and out, i have a feeling bertuzzi's reinstatement is going to come in a little late...

but anyways, i wonder if police will really press charges...the vancouver police did that to marty mcsorely...but he was with boston, not vancouver so i dunno.

He's paying the price. He screwed up, he snapped... I don't care what you call it, it's an embarassment to the league and they had to act that way. The punishment is fair, but if the Canucks get dumped in Round 1 I wouldn't be surprised to see 5-10 games added to the suspension.

The $250,000 fine to the Canucks is insane though. $50,000 I could see, but that's just asinine.

We all know what happened here...

Am I the only one who is glad that he's getting in big trouble?

Personally, I don't like the league fining the Canucks.
