Okay, here we go..... im sorry for my rude opinion on your overworld... in fact, i love it, (but i still do think it has some flaws), i was just a littled pissed that you were picking on BaNd, and thanks for not being one of those people Keikonium, (thats NOT sarcasm) and i still would kick your ass if you messed with BaNd but im not the furious kind of dude.... so i apologize...... plz...only good opinions bout BaNd or only helpful pointers, no "eyes exploding" please......

BaNd, your overworld has a nice design, and it will look even better if you follow a few things I said in my first post in this thread. You have a nice design, and Im sorry for people comparing my overworld to yours. I worked on mine for like 2 days (just the main overworld), and I have done countless overworlds before, so I have lots of experience in that field. I'm sure you could be just as good if you fix up a few things. Also, be creative and add "do-dads" all over the ground. Little rocks, trees, bushes, mushrooms (), all that nature stuff.

Also, is there a need for it to be blue? If it follows a theme for your hack, then thats awesome, but if you made it blue just to make it blue, I would have it be that way for a reason, and not just because.

As you said above, this is your first time. My overworlds weren't very good my first time either (I actually still have my first one if you want me to show you a picture). So just ignore people flaming you, and concentrate on making this the best overworld you can make!!

@deathdrummer: Your opinion on my overworld is fine with me. I am in no way "done" it yet, infact I have changed and added a few things since the last screenshot. And I still have more to add. I'm not even done all the events yet! I just love making overworlds, so thats what I always start with, and then build my levels around that. Please, if you want to point out the flaws in my overworld, do it in the thread I made so I can fix stuff up. Thanks.

Yes I'm still working on mine. It's hard though with our city cutting off off power every couple hours.

Is there a reason for all this flaming though? Geez...

EDIT: And it's my first time hacking. I just wanted a couple opinions on how it's looking. I didn't want to make some huge mistake.

OK... The overworld doesn't really have anything to it, so you can't really say it's good. The reason people like keikonium's better is because it has variety, a good mix of essentials, and it is original, almost no original graphics, deep colours, and a host of other good points. BaNd's OW has a lot of blue, a waterfall, a ramp, and a square island. Woo hoo.

Dude, Variety is everything!

What flaws would they be then? Maybe a significantly excessive amount of awesomeness?

Would Nintendo ever have done a completely blue-hued overworld for the original SMW? No! They filled it with vibrant colours.

By the way, I feel this is going too off-topic so i'll shut up now.

By the way. Just look at BaND's first post. Specifically the line where he said:

'I loved whoever made the hack with the orange cliff and sun. I can't find the topic to see who made it. Was it Forte?'

...Sounds a lot like Keikonium's overworld to me.

Ok. Flaming over, I have actually removed myself from this thread.

Im just going to say that maybe a few more colours than just blue would be good...make the island a whole less square, and fill up all that empty space. Maybe some rivers...or possibly levels.

Iceman, im sorry that i have to fight with you my friend but..... some customs are bad, and its crowded, to many colors that make it look ameteurish.... where BaNd is approaching his correctly, hes taking it slow, that way if it looks bad, its not too late to change it... and he is making changes.... keikonium.... no offense, i like it, but it has too many flaws....... and im sure youll say the same about mine, but im smarter than to think its perfect, and im not saying keikonium does, but he does seem to think hes done.... if i were him, id start over....

@deathdrummer: Do you know what ya talking about? Keikonium is the best creator for Overworlds and his one definitly kicks ass and the one from BaNd looks ugly.

you guys are very disrespectful.... that was a good idea, and for you guys to say that your eyes were exploding, how rude... i must say keikonium, your overworld looks horrible... "my eyes exploded", you should not work on it anymore... i certainly would not play it.... and as for chickenlump, do you even have an overworld, if not, quit your opinions, you all are very rude and if i knew any of you, i would certainly knock you out.... BaNd is a close friend of mine, and if any of you are to disrespect him, you would hear from ME!

All right. Some of this I did one night around 3 AM. Who knows what I was thinking with the square Island.

I'll change the blue to different shades or back to green later today.

Layer 1 is the levels and paths that mario follows on his journey thru out the map.
Layer 2 are the events that mario can reveal, like paths, and stuff.
Then there are the static layer 1 and 2. They are levels that sit ontop of the levels for revealing on submaps that you currently aren't on. I am pretty sure I am correct with the above. Just check the overworld help file in lunar magic for a more detailed precise answer.

I am also the one who created the sunset overworld. It's linked to in the second post made in this thread. Its a little ways down the page. I thank you for your comment.

As for your overworld, its very...blue. I really don't want to predict a SNES version of Super Blue Bros (those hacks by legs).

Don't use that kind of blue. You have the colors all wrong. The cliff faces should be a dark blue. Like faded navy blue. Then the diamonds and main ground color should switch palettes. Mmaking the diamonds dark, and the main ground lighter. And as you get closer to the edge of the land, make the blue get darker. Also, don't space the color "strength" out so much. Have maby a Luminosity (Lum.) difference of 10 (thats what I do) per palette. So if your first blue was:

Hue: 160
Sat: 240
Lum: 90

And you wanted a darker version of the SAME COLOR, then change the Lum to 80. If you wanted a lighter version, change the Lum to 100. Get it? Good.


Now onto the design. You have way to much empty space. I like the cliffs at the bottom, they look really good. The land mass rising out of this island tho, isn't very attractive. I see what your trying to do, but it just doesn't look very good. I don't have any suggestions on how to make it look better other than not do it at all.

The Yoshi's Iisland map is horrible! What happened to the winding cliffs you had on the main overworld? NEVER MAKE SQUARE ISLANDS THAT TAKE UP THE WHOLE MAP. It looks really bad, and unexciting. No curves at all. It looks fake. I see one level that branches off in 2 ways. That tile needs to be red.

And just change the palettes. Go with what I described above.

To be perfectly honest, the blue looks really bad. No matter what you do with it. I wouldn't continue with the blue color because well, grass just isn't blue. Not even in a mario game. Use green or brown, or something else. Just fix some stuff up.

EDIT: Also, green on blue = my eyes die. Seriously, what were you thinking?

Edit2: It's also extraordinarily bland. The YI part is just a rectangle, and the main part... There's nothing on most of it, and that cliff area near the water looks really bad.
