It's up to the people themself how to use a big network like Internet. One thing is sure, and that's the society have been changing and is still transforming becuse of the internet. And Internet brings people all over the world together, for twenty years ago it was quite rare for anyone here to have contact with people at the other side of the atlantic every day.
Well said. Sites such as Wikipedia show that, even in an atmosphere where anyone can do anything, productive and knowledgeable works can be produced. There might be page-blankouts and graffiti now and then, just as any forum is sure to experience it's share of spam and trolling, but all in all, those who rise above it can enjoy themselves just the same. |

Ailure's right in every way about this. And you know, even without the internet people were clowns in 'snail mail' and such before, so it was bound to happen for people to act stupid, it just happened on a larger scale because the internet(s) is a place for you to do anything without any major consequenses (pirating not included). But yes, there IS a time and place for acting serious or goofing off. |

It depends on where you go on the internet. It's not right to say it's all serious, but it certainly isn't all jokes either. |

The internet is pretty much always open for a little joking. You know, benign and gentle jokes put somewhere. But there is always places where seriousness should be maintained. For example, there are boards where it is suggested. Various bloggers, etc. |

I highlight everything I read too. Any way, I don't think there's an issue here or anything, because anything serious, like debate, usually is denoted as such. I mean, this is called "World Affairs/Debate Forum" so, it is kind of obvious what you should be talking about. Now, sometimes things may get out of hand, but this is likely because the forum is surrounded by a bunch of nonsense. However, there are debate only forums that ban nonsense people, so I guess if anyone wanted to be serious they could go to places like that. This is just like in Real Life |
