Y'know, if you spaced those out right, you could use on of those jumping fire sprites that left behind a trail, and put one on top of the candles, cuz then you'd have hopping fires coming out of the candles!

Looks great. Touch up the cake world with a third type of cake-themed level (ie: stuff involving lit candles, icing rivers), and it'll be great fun.

The shading on all the frosting is far too thick. It makes it appear that the frosting isn't even attached to the cake, and it far in front of it.

I think that the cake would look better if it were either a lighter or darker color. Because right now it's too light to look like a real chocolate cake and it's too dark to be one of those plain cakes.

Why do you people want to put down the pillars? The pillars are good. They are just like in Super Mario World's graphics. Sure, you could brighten it up, but you also gotta remember: the frosting is the only thing that is going to be solid. When the frosting sides are impossible to go through, why make the pillars act like them? Seems rediculous to me...

The tileset is nice. While I don't see anything new in it, seeing a similar tileset just made for underground is something I don't see many people do...

Good work there.

Im not trying to offend you JJ, in fact, what i am about to say is uposed to be good.

Those have got to be the funnyest graphics i have ever seen, and i mean that in a good way, because they do look good, but i just can not help laghing when i look at them, and i think it is just because of the clevernes of the whole cake lookand or idea that you have going there.

That is all i have to say, but great job none the less.

Here's an idea for your cake levels. Change the pipes so that they look like large candles. It might look better that way, and it would be interesting to the level.

You could also add flames to some of the pipe candles as an obstacle. A good idea if you're making courses where you're on top of the cake.

Try adding some strawberries, either as an enemy, as a block, or as an item, whichever works best.

As for the cake background, try imagining what the inside of an actual cake looks like for some ideas.

Something to keep in mind is that the Cake Cave set is just an extension of the already shown cake set. Which means, a lot of the same tiles are reused to save on ExGFX and Map16 space. Whether you like the effect or not is up to personal taste, but I think it comes across very well.

And the real reason why the cake pillars are the exact same shade as the normal cake stuff (this is also in response to Kirby ATW who said something about candles and DisruptiveIdiot who mentioned layered cake):

As you can see, the pillars are really just the normal cake sides reused. Which means, more or less, that I can stick platforms that you can jump on and through the bottom without any problems. And, of course, since this is just an extension, all the doodads from the previous cake set are still present, candles included.

Glyph Pheonix: All sets I make are in a constant state of development. If you have better ideas, post examples and I'll test them out if I think they'll work well. And rest assured, any level using this set will NOT be a series of bland cake floors and walls. I'm not THAT bad at level design. Current screenshots are just to test the set.

Well, how about cookie crumbs or chocolate? Maybe you could also add Cake ladders?

C'mon, you guys. The layout isn't that good. What he does have is nice but it's really plain looking (dammit, frosting puns are contagious) and the walk-through cake wall is the same color as the rest. I think the walk-through walls should be lighter than the rest.

And the cake walls should have something like Yoshi's cookie style cookies or.. I don't know, something rather than that bland bumpy pattern thoughout the entire level.

That set looks so good I could just eat it up! </2ndlamejoke>

I have always been a fan of your sets. They just look so professional! I love cake, and I love caves. This set is perfect. Keep up the good work as always. I look forward to alot more from you!

EDIT: Maby add some candels with animated flames (to bad SMW didn't have custom lighting effects. That way the candels could light up the cave). Maby a liquid chocolate lake. Darken the pillars. Maby add frosting "buds". Usually you see them at the cornors of cakes. Chocolate bridge. Some kind of candy cane/cookie fence?

Agreed. Make the cake in the background a few shades darker, and you'll have yourself one hum-dinger of a cake cave.

*shot for using old-people-isms*

Ooh! And how about some frosting dripping from the ceiling? Frosting stalactites...

for the bg why not use a darker cake colour ? it would have to stand out though from the foreground but could look pretty cool if done right
