hehehe not quite yet... SMB is pretty limited as far as space to add hacks. Perhaps once i learn how to add a mapper like DD with Mario Seasons i can get into adding new moves. The reason i added the stopwatch was because it was easy to do hehe; i'm really just a beginning asm hacker. right now the only other asm hacks that may get implemented are the shells breaking bricks/hitting ? blocks and the super jump when stomping an enemy (like SMB3/SMW). These hacks will only happen if they dont take too many lines of code because as i said, i dont have much room

Would it be possible to add new moves or anything? Like add a drill spin like Super Mario Land 2? Then he can breack blocks like the turtle shells. Or add some flying power, probably unnessesary but could be fun.

Anyway, very impressive hack. Can't wait to play it.

i fixed the scrolling problem with the stopwatch so now it's on!

I really like the stopwatch idea. Looks nice up until now, let's hope the rest will be just as good.

well first off, you misquoted. I made that post, not mighty kefka and secondly...yeah, a level map. You know how like in smbdx, it had a little "overworld" where that annoying bell thing just kept going "ding. ding. ding. ding." until you went in the level.

do you mean like a level map or something? i dont think i'll be able to do that this time around. i have to learn how to add a mapper before i'll be able to do anything like that because i'd need to add a lot more graphics and code. i've pretty much got the ASM down but i dont know much about the NES like how to get sprites on the screen and whatnot so it wouldnt be too easy

you still have to get 100 coins to get the invincibility. i just meant you can collect 99 coins and then wait to get the 100th in a hard part or something. there will be specific areas where you will want to use it hopefully. im gonna spend a long time designing the levels dont worry hehe right now i forget to watch the coin count so it's almost like a random starman which is cool

oh ok i though you were saying i used your code i hope i can do the shell thing.. im not sure yet. ive been slowly reverse engineering the whole SMB rom so we'll see.

Stopwatch= teh promising

I like the idea of themed worlds, too. I don't think I've ever seen that in a SMB hack.

This game better be damned hard if you add that thing that you can select invincibility anywhere... Thats about my only thing I'm questioning... even though it has potential to be great.

Go kick some ass, dude! I am looking forward to this and the Mario Seasons SMB3 game! This is going to be a good year for hacks!

Oh I didn't say you stole the hacks from me, I was just saying I'm glad to see someone else can reproduce the same effects on their own, without stealing. So turtle shells hitting ? blocks eh? Wow, this will be so friggin awesome when it's done

I know seasons has fire to big to small feature and also the mario state on the pre-level screen but i didnt look at seasons to find out how to do it; i wanted to add those things because they just needed to be done hehe. i also want to make shells punch ? blocks and make it possible to do a super jump when you stomp an enemy but i havent looked into it too much yet.

i just used up the free ROM space that i cleared by getting rid of the demo data so i dont know how much more i can add, though i think there are large portions of the rom just filled with misc bytes so perhaps theres room for a lot more stuff

the stopwatch is a bit buggy still.. mario's run animation doesnt work when time is stopped and if you stop scrolling, it wont start again until the clock runs out [solved ].. we'll see how useable it is in the end.. hopefully i can figure out how to fix the scrolling problem though im not too concerned about the running animation

Hehe, I see a few things I put into Mario Season's are in here. I'm glad to see other people can do a very kick ass SMB hack with asm changes up the wazoo. This looks very promising. I think this is as impressive as anything I've done, especially the stopwatch addition. Very awesome.

Here's a little teaser of my upcoming smb1 hack, Super Mario Forever. It's not as impressive as DD's latest work but i'm pretty pleased with how it's turning out. I'm almost done with all of the asm tweaking but still have 90% of the levels to do so it'll be at least a couple months but i've been working on it hard lately and would really like to show it off.

Super Mario Forever Includes:

* No lives - Borrowing from Mario Adventure, i've dropped lives completely. This increases fun factor, as well as allowing the 1up/100 coins to be used for something else.

* Stopwatch power up - Pauses enemies for about 5 seconds, like the stop watch in SMB2 (when you pull up 5 ripe fruits) (still kinda buggy )

* Invunerability power up - instead of killing enemies you just walk through them

* Invincibility (starman) when you get 100 coins which means that you can get a starman anywhere and when you choose

* Getting hit when you have fire power takes away your fire power but you dont become small

* Mario's state (small/big/fire) is displayed before the level starts

* Themed worlds: working themes: overworld (basic 1-1 type levels), underworld (1-2 type levels), water world, night world, sky tower world, cloud world, pipe world, bullet world

* no repeat levels (excluding castles)

* almost completely new graphics (ripped/original) mostly the same as my first hack Super Mario 5000 but with some updates
