Hmm...maybe to make the sand look more beachlike you can add little nooks and crannies into it such as seashells or pebbles. Also, I think it'd be better not to have a lot of grass, if any, on the sand for a beach level, but if it's more of a jungle level you can keep it. And I don't really know what's up with that BG, I know you can do better, but I'm sure that's just a temporary BG, right?

If I were in your shoes, I would switch the leaves on the ground and the leaves on the trees around. I think it would look a lot better that way.

The trees should be like palm trees or something, at least trunk-wise. The ground needs to look more like sand or something, and maybe you could add like a beach ball, toy shovel (kids always forget those in the sand) or sand castle here and there.

Fruit?

Palm Trees... Then again, more detail would be nice... your trees look loke dripping clome right now

I think it looks good. Perhaps what you may want to do next is grass that sticks out of the ground a bit, almost like tileset specific object "bush 5" in the original forest tileset. Otherwise, maybe some coral formations, or buried treasure chests for decoration?

Yay it works! Erhmm.
Yes, you should add a more beachy feel to it. Like cloouds and things. Make shading, too. Everyone nagged on me about shading. Shading is very important.

Crab-like enemies, Custom water, seagulls.

I'll come up with more as I think of it.

Ok, well just to let you all know, I am starting a new SMW hack called Mario and the Crazy World. While I wanted to wait until I actually got progress on the hack, I am really stumped on this tileset.

That is the tileset in question.

As you can see, it is a tropical sort of a tileset. If you think the tree is weird, don't worry. It is supposed to be weird.

The thing is, I really don't know what else I can add to this. I just don't know what would be best for a beachlike tileset...

That is where you come it. What things could I add that would make this tileset a tropical one? Something that is tropical would work.
