You could have made the levels like FFIII's mythril mines too

Oh wait, then you'd make the level take about 5 seconds to beat and contain nothing in it. Bad idea.

Ok, the Mythril Mines map looks too much like the original cave ovw in SMW.

The snow level is blinding.

Artic Forest map looks too much like the original. And also looks like something out of Wario Land as well. How that worked out I'll never know.

I love the orange level though!

Yea, nothing horrendous. Looks a lot better graphically than a lot of other hacks, but could still use some rearrangement work.

@ the new screenshots:

1. The overworld looks okay. I like the idea with the river.

2. The layout is nice. It really resembles the original map tho. Is that something you are trying to do with this game? Alot of the overworld layout (levels) are unchanged. But you build land masses around the levels that looks really good. The water fall in the cave is always something I love to see. I like the level names too.

3. Nothing to amazing here. Just abit of land rearrangement. It looks good tho.

4. Like Bloodstar said, its way to bright. Darken up the FG abit. Also, to me it looks alot more icy then it does snoey. Its also very empty. Add some detail in and some enemies.

I like the looks so far. Your overworlds would be alot more exciting if the levels were in different spots and you used some new palettes. But other than that, it looks good. Keep it up.

WAAAAAY too bright. =\ Darken it a bit. The rest is alright, though.

Another update:

Two Final Fantasy VII Cameos:

Ancient Forest. The level for it is recreated from the game's Ancient Forest, with a few edits here and there. This is what it looks like on the OV map.

and Mythril Mines. I know it may not look much, but the levels are loosly recreated from Final Fantasy VII's Mythril Mines.

Updated and more edited OV map over where Vanilla Dome used to be. The part of the land is called Mt. Saint Kappa.

Whatcha think? Good, bad?

Ah yes, I see the clouds now. Doesn't really seem appropriate for an arctic forest... but then, the entire concept is impossible anyway.

And did you really need to quote that entire post?

Sequel to SMU.

If you look closely, those weird clouds are over them.

But yeah, there seem to be a lot of weird areas, like where the hill is -- right above it is some land what's floating in air

I'm lovin the orange! Is it supposed to be like a sunset affect? Maybe add a little purple and pink in it so it looks just like a real sunset.

The second eipsode takes place after the first. In this SS, you can see a land far away in the sunset (BG from MegaMan X2 - Bubble Crab Stage). The short leavable level is called Sunset park, which is a lookout place for yoshis. Suggestions for improvement or good/bad(?) comments?

This pic is the same one again, but with Layer 3 and Sprites turned off.

I love commenting on overworlds!

First shot:

Good:

- I see no really bad graphic glitches.
- Sand, grass, water and cliffs; good.
- You know how to use ExGFX! Nice pyramids.

Bad:

- Castle #1 and #6 are on the same screen. Looks kinda odd. But this is the main overworld, so I think it will work out.
- Cliff hanging over the edge under castle #1 looks odd.
- 2 Moving water tiles in about the middle of the screen looks weird.

Second shot:

Good:

- No graphic glitches again!
- You can actually see mario in this shot.
- Got creative with the cliffs at the bottom, looks good.

Bad:

- Square water
- Castle, 2 pipes, ghost house, and level mario is on weren't moved from their original position.
- See mario in the top left? The square he is in is a different color from the rest of the boarder. I forget how to fix that tho, sorry.

Third Shot:

Good:

- Nothing really. It's to similar to the original, and it's empty.

Bad:

- It needs to be fixed up. Way to empty, and looks to much like the original. Needs alot of work.

Fourth Shot:

Good:

- I love the arctic forest idea!
- Most of the palettes look really good.
- I like the graphical layout.

Bad:

- The level layout is the same as the original.
- The cloud and star palettes need to be changed. Make the stars maby an ice blue, and the clouds a blue to make them stand out against the ground.
- Make the plants cheeks ice blue so they look cold.

Overall, it's not that bad, but it does need some work. I like the ice forest idea, thats really neat. Update us all with whatever changes you make.

"Pressed Switches" are remade Star Road teleporters. The "akward land" is a slanted hill. Bridge over waterfall leads to Tropical Yoshi's island. And the four shots were already beaten with a cheat code, used to bypass levels without playing them. Green spots in the Arctic Forest (which is inside a cavern) are those stary sparkly things. The OV and submaps are slightly edited so the shots in the first post are old. And incase anyone was wondering about the colored Mario sprites, SuperStar cheat code was also inserted, and I forgot to turn it off when snapping these pics.

The bottom part of the pressed switch is bad. The level tile in the top right shouldn't be revealed.

There's some green spots. Also, aside from the first level, don't reveal the level dots.

I like the Arctic Forest maps. The others are blah, but I'm sure they're unfinished? Mostly, there are too many straight borders... cliffs that head straight north/south, the square body of water, etc. etc.

This is a SS sneak preview of Episode two of Super Mario Universe. First two are from the Main OW map, the last two from the sub maps. Nothing too interesting, but it takes place some miles far away from Dinosaur Land. Now if you'll excuse me, I got some more things to do, and still waiting for an ExGFX request finished by someone on the GFX thread.

1) Mineral Land
2) Green Green Land
3) Crystal Mines
4) Arctic Forest (inside a cave)
