STOP asking that question! I've already told you twice what to do!

how can you learn asm?

Well, by my (most likely flawed) Calculations, the Layer one tiles do not fill an entire byte. I think there may be room for one more tile that could be custom ASM'd to use LM's standard ponter list, but in ASM modify it to the new level number. Then, after making it with LM, you would need to Hex edit the tile pointer, changing it into your new tile, or replace an existing tile with yours instead of placing in a new one. Complicated and vague, I know, But in the interest of helping, there is my two cent's worth.

Agreed. Anything that a SNES can do can be done with ASM, so it's quite pointless to say so. If you don't know how just don't post. You're welcome to post any useful information, but just 'use asm' is hardly useful.

As for the actual subject, you might be able to hack it to add more level entry points, but it would be difficult since a lot of the game is designed around the way it is now. Unless you hacked in some sort of special level tile that bypasses all that (if that's even possible) you'd have to deal with a lot of problems you'd create. It's best to just stick with the ones you have, I mean that's already almost 300 level entrances on the OW.

You're fine, cpubasic, cuz you didn't just say "Yeah, with ASM". Even though you didn't get into specifics, you at least went into greater detail than pointing out the obvious. Saying what you did will generate replies that may actually help the original asker.

Sure. I post useless spam disguised as information because it's so long and nobody's ever called me on it.

If you did add in more levels into the overworld, you would have to deal a whole lot with pointers. And while that could be easy, all the extra work with the overworld would have to be done with a hex editor, since Lunar Magic wouldn't support ASM hacks like that...

...so even while you did that, more work within a hex editor would definitely be required for the overworld.

So if you hate hex editors, use the levels that you have right now.

JJ: Notice how I said "Yes, with ASM" by giving a simple explanation on how it would work. That is acceptable, right?

The last word on general ASM (I hope): Anything that you've already seen done with the SNES hardware is possible with ASM hacking. No, we probably will not do it for you. We may point you in the right direction, such as helping you with a specific routine or giving you links to documents.

I agree with BMF, saying something as unhelpful as "Yeah, with ASM" will be treated as spam from here on out, at least by me. I will follow the normal disciplinary procedure if it comes to it.

And please, people, if you don't know how to do something, or even have a suggestion as to how it might be done, don't post. I'm tired of seeing the generic "yeah, with ASM" response in practically every other thread on this board.

We could do that with ASM. Everything is possible with it.

However, my advice to YoshiBandit is to play the hacks out there, and see what people have already done. Because until you become a veteran at this type of stuff, you really aren't going to do anything really ground-breaking (unless you are a previous programmer and know what you are doing, which isn't the case here), and it gives you an idea of what you can and cannot do for the time-being.

No, please, don't. I'm not patient enough (and don't have enough free time) to teach anyone ASM.

To the best of my knowledge, it has not been done.

Has anyone done this before and if so can they show me how?
{note to self : i really need to learn ASM}

I believe it would be possible, but only if you knew ASM enough to move the table that controlled the entrances' data, then yea, sure.

Yep, with ASM. All things are possible with ASM.

Is there anyway to add more level entrances directly to the overworld?
